This lovely 1940 edition of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë features lithographs by Barnett Freedman. We often have multiple copies of literary classics in our collection due to demand- I can see why this one has circulated so much!

I couldn't let our graduating seniors (now alums!) Andrew, Awa, and Grace, leave without a photoshoot. A big thank you to another of our student workers, Hazel, for helping to capture some of these photos. Brought to you by my Polaroid camera + golden moments film :)

This book belongs to a 4 volume series titled "History of American Presidential Elections, 1789-1968." Published in 1971, the book was designed by Connie Frey for Chelsea House Publishers. Her cover design initially drew my attention to this series up in the stacks. Frey designed a unique take on the seal of the president of the United States within the context of late 1960s and early 1970s graphic design. Although the late 60s and early 70s is usually associated with groovy, colorful, and futuristic (for the time) imagery, there were other graphic design trends occurring alongside what we remember the most now. One such trend was design inspired by global contemporary and historical folk art, including folk art found in textiles and clothing design. Frey's design pulls from cross-stitching and filet crochet, two art forms that increased in aesthetic and cultural popularity during the time period due to their association with folk art.

As the academic year comes to a close, we want to thank our graduating student workers for all of their hard work assisting us in Access Services. These books were selected personally by Grace, Andrew, and Awa to be added to our collection. Grace selected "Necessary Fiction," Andrew selected "Berlin Childhood Around 1900," and Awa selected "How Progress Ends: Technology, Innovation, and the Fate of Nations". Thank you Grace, Andrew, and Awa for your contributions to the library. We're going to miss you all very much, but we're so excited for your next chapter!
