At 3:13am BCFD was dispatched to a structure fire on L.T Rice Dr on Route 5&20 along with Geneva, Waterloo, and Oaks corners Fire Departments. Initial reports believed a person was trapped inside the home. Waterloo Deputy Chief 1662 arrived on scene within minutes confirming a working fire & that everyone was out of the home and accounted for. BCFD Chiefs, Apparatus and mutual aid apparatus all arrived on scene shortly after. The fire was called under control by command 15 minutes after the initial time of dispatch.
A speedy response by all agencies and ample manpower are accredited for means of a quick knockdown on an early morning fire that could have been much worse. The fire, only involving about 1/3 of the structure with active fire load, is believed to have started around an outside wall of the home, but is still undetermined and under investigation.

***Update*** all roads have been reopened.

Route 96 will be closed between the intersections of Brewer & Whiskey hill road, and Mills road for an estimated 2-3 hours. Please try to avoid the area for the time being.

At 2:50 this afternoon BCFD was dispatched to a single car MVA into the Seneca canal off of the Route 96a bridge. Upon arrival a single occupant was located on shore with no injuries, and 1 car partially submerged in water. Firefighters utilized Marine 1 to place booms and pads for any leaking fluids and assist with closing boat traffic, while fire police and an engine crew assisted with traffic control on 96a. North Seneca Ambulance, along with New York State Police, DEC spill response Seneca County Sheriff’s Office & Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
