I want to thank all Genevans who voted, regardless of who you voted for. For those who voted for me, Tom Simonian, I want to apologize that I was not able to bring home a winner. Although we did much better than four years ago, we just came up a little short this time. There is always four years from now 😊. You know they say “the third times a charm”. I am disappointed in myself and for the future of Geneva but am relieved that I will be spared from the inevitable slings and arrows of what has become a toxic political climate. I did not have to wait long to see that toxicity and what the future holds. I called the Mayor last night to congratulate him yet he did not take my call. So, I texted him congratulations, again with no response. In my judgment, my campaign was extremely professional and issues-based. I engaged in no personal attack mudslinging, although there was plenty of ammunition. In fact, I praised the Mayor for his past service while politely suggesting that prolonged inbreeding is not conducive to the long-term health of the herd.

These were the first words from the "winner": "'Having endured a vicious, vindictive and vitriolic assault on me and my family, this evening’s victory is particularly sweet,' Burns said, speaking from his home in Geneva." I can only assume this refers to the possibly self-inflicted wounds received from the delayed transmission of his own alleged past assaults on basic decency and utter disregard for women. He declares his own claims of a return to grace through humble-bragging and self-righteous virtue signaling. But the preceding quote is an attack on me and all those who supported me. It is comments like this that one must question, is this what the Mayor means by “The Geneva Brand”!

For all of you who were part of our “time for change” journey I cannot not thank you enough for your passion, commitment, dedication, laughter, and tears. For those of you who voted for me I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It’s time for new leadership and I know I’m up to the task. The job of Mayor is the job of a lifetime — NOT for a lifetime.

• Appoint elected officials and citizens to a Finance/Budget Committee
• Committee will be instructed to go line by line through the current bloated $108 million dollar budget and reduce and eliminate expenses where and if applicable

• Many of the current ordinances are not fair and do not make any common sense

• Put together restaurant, business, developer and citizen task forces to review city ordinances that are not fair or make common sense and make recommendations to the City Council on how to remove or make fair and common-sense changes
