Distracted driving has become a major issue on our roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 315,157 people were injured in 2024 due to distracted driving.

The Lutzie 43 Foundation, founded by Mike Lutzenkirchen, encourages every driver to take 43 Key Seconds to set yourself up for a safe trip — for you and for everyone else on the road.

Mike lost his son, Philip, who played tight end at Auburn University, in a motor vehicle accident in 2014. Mike's mission is to raise awareness of and put an end to distracted, impaired, and unsafe driving.

Remember, if you take your eyes off the road for more than two seconds, your crash risk increases.

Let's all do our part to make our roadways safer and take this issue seriously.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Coffee County Sheriff's Office has received reports that jury duty scam calls are once again circulating in our area.

Scammers are posing as members of the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and claiming the person they call failed to respond to a federal jury summons. They often know a significant amount of personal information about the victim, making the call sound convincing. The calls are coming from a New Brockton number. The caller then claims the victim will be arrested unless they report to the sheriff's office and pay bail or other fees immediately.

THIS IS A SCAM!

The Coffee County Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you to demand payment, request bail money, or threaten arrest over the phone for missing jury duty.

If you receive one of these calls:
🔹 Hang up immediately.
🔹 Do not send money or provide personal or financial information.
🔹 If you're unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Coffee County Sheriff's Office at (334) 894-5535.

Please share this post to help protect your family, friends, and neighbors from becoming victims.
