As we wrap up Summer Games, we’re reminded that these moments were made special by the people behind them.
To our volunteers, our staff, families and many hands that brought it to life over the past two weekends—THANK YOU.
Through your compassion and commitment, Marklund’s mission was felt in every experience and heartfelt connection.
With more than 350 people joining us across Geneva and Elgin, the impact is undeniable. Together, we made so many meaningful moments happen and kept the joy of this special Marklund tradition going. We are so grateful to carry this spirit into the start of summer.

The “Around the World” theme came alive thanks to the creativity of our dedicated staff, who brought hands-on experiences to life across the Wasmond campus. Residents explored global-inspired activities, including lantern-making, music, dominoes, sensory fun, water games, and so much more.

With live music throughout the day, barbecue fresh off the grill, and adaptive interactive experiences for everyone, the Summer Games continued to bring joy to every moment. 🧡💜

The 2026 Marklund Summer Games are in full swing at the Wasmond Center in Elgin.

With support from the Elgin Police Department, dedicated staff, volunteers and community partners, today is full of energy and connection. Thank you to the American Legion Elgin Post 57 - Color Guard, and to staff member Julia Bothwell for an incredible national anthem.

We’re grateful to our Summer Games emcee, case manager Nick P., and to President & CEO Gil Fonger for leading the day off. A special thank you to Senator Cristina Castro for being here and for your continued support of our residents everyday.

Through this year’s “Around the World” theme, residents are taking part in hands-on adaptive experiences that highlight movement, exploration and joy.

Stay tuned as more moments that matter unfold.

Learning and fun went hand in hand for Marklund Bridge Builder clients this week. Safety Town with the Barrington Junior Women's Club - BJWC provided hands-on practice with maps and road safety, while a picnic and an outing to Culver's added even more opportunities for connection and new experiences.
