We are HIRING for our new Park Naturalist!

This is an amazing and exciting opportunity to work out of our new Geneva State Park Nature Center, develop and lead interpretive nature programming, lead guided hikes, host recreation programs such as Kayaking and Archery, engage with the local community via networking and social media marketing, assist with special festival and events, and more!

This is a part-time position paying $21.83/hour. We are looking for folks with a background in environmental education and recreation, and have college coursework/degrees in biology, wildlife, botany, environmental science, and science education.

ANNOUNCEMENT!
We are HIRING!
We are looking to hire a few part-time, seasonal, park maintenance positions at both Headlands Beach and Geneva State Park!
These positions would ideally start work next month and work the whole summer season, ending sometime in late October/early November. There is a specific amount of budgeted hours for each position, which would be discussed during the interview process. Pay range is from $14-19.50/hour depending on skills and experience.
We need people with prior experience in landscaping and forestry work, and with the trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Experience operating tractors, truck and trailer, 4x4 utility vehicles, zero-turn lawnmowers, and gas-powered equipment such as chainsaws and weed-whackers is preferred. There will be some on-the-job training, but we require a certain level of experience to start.

🚶About 2 miles on paved and mixed terrains

This is your final chance to participate in a Winter Hike at Geneva State Park and earn one of the official Winter Hike Series stickers. Don't miss it!

We also want to send a big thank you to everyone who joined us for the first two hikes. It's been great exploring the park together and sharing the beauty, wildlife, and quiet moments of winter. These photos highlight just a few of the fun memories so far. ❄

Please dress for winter conditions and wear proper footwear as trails may be slippery. Hikes will only be canceled in extreme weather.

We hope to see you out on the trail one last time with us this season! 🥾🌲

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, December 13th, as Geneva State Park kicks off this year’s Winter Hike Series!

🕒 1:30–3:00 PM

Bundle up and get ready to discover the natural wonders that winter brings, from wildlife adaptations to the quiet beauty of the season. Please dress for cold temps and potentially slippery conditions—proper footwear and outerwear are required.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:
Hi everyone! I figured it’s about time I properly introduced myself. I’m the Naturalist here at Geneva State Park 🍃, and I’ve been with ODNR for two summer seasons. I actually got my start as a Naturalist Intern at Wingfoot Lake State Park through the college intern program.

I graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology, where I also spent two years researching insects 🐞. When I first started here at Geneva, I spent my first month designing and setting up our new Nature Center 🦉🌱, which is now home to regular programs and activities for visitors of all ages.
