The Village had special guests yesterday as Ohio Senator Theresa Gavarone and State Representative Josh Williams visited Genoa to discuss the Village's capital budget request and to tour the Genoa Civic Theatre. The Village has applied for state funding to assist in the replacement of the roof over the civic theatre. Thank you for your time, legislators!

Waste Management will continue garbage cart removal tomorrow and will continue until all carts are collected. Please leave your cart out until Waste Management removes it.

Wednesday will begin Stevens Disposal garbage collection.

Garbage Contract News

The Village of Genoa has signed a contract with Stevens Disposal to provide refuse/garbage services. The contract will begin April 1.

As part of this contract, garbage day will switch from Monday to Wednesday. Residents will be provided a 96-gallon cart similar to the current cart.

The last WM (Waste Management) garbage day will be Monday, March 30. The first Stevens garbage day will be two days later, on Wednesday, April 1. That is not an April Fools Day joke.

As part of this contract, the Village will have unlimited curbside pickup one time per year, on a TBD date this Spring. There will still be bulk pickup options throughout the year. There will be a mailer with more information in the very near future.

9th Street, between West St and Main St, is closed while Genoa Public Works repairs a waterline.

Valves have been tightened in the area and residents may experience reduced water pressure during the repair. No one is under a boil advisory.

Genoa Public Works is fixing two water main breaks in town. These repairs may not be completed by the time you read this in the morning. Some water valves have been tightened to reduce pressure, though the lines have not been completely shut off and no one is under a boil advisory.

🚨 Snowstorm Reminder – Please Remove Vehicles From Streets by When Snowfall Exceeds Two Inches 🚨

Tomorrow will bring the biggest snowstorm in four years, and Genoa Public Works will be out plowing streets as conditions worsen. To help us clear streets quickly and safely, please remove all vehicles from Village streets and park them in driveways or off-street locations before the storm arrives.

Ordinance 351.17 requires the removal of vehicles from streets, alleys, on-street parking, etc when snowfall exceeds two inches.

✅ Keeping streets clear helps:

Plows get through efficiently.

Emergency vehicles travel safely.

Everyone gets dug out faster.

Friendly reminder that leaf pickup is for leaves ONLY.

Sticks and branches hidden in a leaf pile can damage and even break the equipment, resulting in delayed or even canceled leaf pickup.

Genoa Public Works will begin picking up leaves next week. Please remember to rake your leaves to the curb and refrain from placing leaf piles in the street.

Also, no sticks, branches, etc should be included in leaf piles. Sticks and branches can clog and damage the machinery.
