Genoa-King Ferry Water District Residents:

The Town of Genoa Water Department will be flushing out hydrants on Monday, July 27th. This process is done every 1 to 2 years to help maintain the water system and clear out stagnant water, sediment, and minerals; improving the color, odor, and taste of drinking water.

Water may become temporarily discolored (yellow or brown) due to stirred-up sediment. This is normal and not harmful; running cold water until it clears is recommended.

Water Use: Residents are advised to avoid using taps, dishwashers, or washing machines during flushing to prevent staining or sediment issues.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
INCREASE IN WATER RATES WITHIN THE GENOA-KING FERRY WATER DISTRICT

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Genoa on June 10, 2026, at 6:30pm at the Genoa Town Hall, 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa, NY 13071 for the purpose of taking public comment on and giving due consideration to a proposed increase in water rates within the Genoa-King Ferry Water District.

New Rates:
$56 – minimum usage – under 10K (stays the same)
10K-30K/$5.00 per 1,000 gallons (stays the same)
Over 30K/$7.50 per 1,000 gallons (increases)

The Town Board is interested in hearing all comments related to the proposed water rate increase during the June 10 public hearing. If you cannot attend this public hearing, you may still address the Town Board by sending your written comments to the Town Clerk’s Office at 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa, NY 13071.

The Town of Genoa Code Enforcement Officer will not be holding office hours tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th.
