And just like that, Genoa Days 2026 is over!

We want to give a huge thank you to Genoa - Kingston Fire and Rescue for all the hard work they put in to another successful event! It was a blast!

We also want to give a huge thank you to Genoa Public Library District! For those that don’t know, the library graciously lets PD/Fire set up a command post in their event room for the entire duration of Genoa Days! Having a spot downtown is so beneficial and we are so grateful!

We want to take a moment to recognize one of our very own - Officer Traversa. This past weekend, Traversa traveled to Lauren’s, SC to compete in The Tactical Games Regional Event held at the Sawmill Training Complex, a top tier tactical training facility.

“Tactical Games events consist of multiple stages that combine functional fitness movements with precise shooting challenges. Competitors move through courses that test strength, endurance and marksmanship - carrying weighted gear, navigating obstacles, and engaging targets under time pressure. Every stage is designed to create intense competitive challenges where physical exhaustion meets the demand for accuracy.”

As if this competition wasn’t hard enough, mother nature stepped in with torrential rain that created an obstacle of its own.

Officer Traversa finished third in her division and on top of a great finish she said that being surrounded by so many disciplined, strong women was a really great experience.

Traversa is an exemplary officer and her grit and determination are apparent through her work on and off duty.

Great job, we are proud! 💪🏼

What a fun morning! 🤩☀️🚔

David and Dominic were our lucky winners from our “Win a Ride to School in a Police Car” raffle that we did at last weekends Market in the Park!

SRO Smith picked the boys up this morning and Chief Hathcoat and Officer Traversa followed for a mini parade of their own - complete with lights and sirens! 🚨 AND their whole class was waiting for them outside! Check out our story to see a video of their grand arrival!

The City Council has a vacancy within Ward 2! If you are interested, please send your letter of interest to Mayor Brust! Aldermen are essential parts of municipal government and it’s a great way to get involved and serve Genoa. 😁

Officer Traversa picked up a big bad criminal this morning near Hawthorne and Madison (and by big bad criminal we mean very well behaved and sweet boy). Contact us if you recognize him! He’ll be hanging out at the PD with us at 333 E First St!

We were able to raise over $2,500 for Special Olympics Illinois last Friday at Cop on a Rooftop! Thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated to such a great cause! It was such a fun morning and we are so grateful for this community!

Huge shoutout to our Genoa Dunkin for hosting us and keeping us caffeinated the whole morning, you guys rock! ☕️😎

And shoutout to the athletes from Special Olympics who came to hang out with us, we had a great time! 😄

Today is the day for the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s Cop on a Rooftop! Stop by your local participating Dunkin’ between 5:00 a.m. and noon to support the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Illinois!

Our athletics program will be out supporting this amazing event from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. alongside the Sycamore Police Department at the Sycamore Dunkin’ and the Genoa Police Department at the Genoa Dunkin’.

Come out, grab a coffee, support our athletes, and help us celebrate an incredible community partnership!🍩
