Our heartfelt condolences go out to Captain Chris Kelley’s family, friends and department(s).

Our law enforcement family is mourning the loss of a truly remarkable man.

After many years of dedicated service, Chris Kelley, a longtime Deputy Sheriff with the Benton County Sheriff's Office, (Reserve Lieutenant), and Captain with the Centerton Police Department, has passed away.

He was more than a badge and a uniform. He was a respected leader, a trusted mentor, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, and a servant to his community. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He led with integrity, treated people with respect, and earned the admiration of colleagues, friends, and community members alike. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his career and beyond.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who served alongside him during this difficult time.

Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the example you set for so many. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Rest easy, brother. We have the watch from here.

SHARING β€œNUDES” WITHOUT CONSENT CAN HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES

New federal requirements now hold online platforms accountable for removing reported intimate content within 48 hours

May 16, 2026 was the deadline for all platforms to have a process to remove intimate content, commonly referred to as "nudes", published without the consent of anyone appearing in the content. This includes images, videos, and AI-generated media. Removal must occur within 48 hours of a request for removal being made. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been authorized by Congress through the Take It Down Act to enforce these requirements.

The law requires all online platforms to have a process in place for users to report and request the removal of any intimate content, of both adults and children. Requests for removal can be made by any adult in the media, the parent of any child appearing in media, or by any adult being requested to assist by an adult appearing in intimate media on a website.

Consumers can make a report to the Federal Trade Commission any time a platform fails to remove reported content within 48 hours or if the platform fails to have a process to request removals.

Reports of violations can be made directly to the Federal Trade Commission at https://takeitdown.ftc.gov/.

More information from the FTC can be obtained at Take It Down Act.

Posting intimate content to a social media platform without the consent of everyone appearing in the content is likely a violation of Arkansas State Statutes. Reports can also be made to your local law enforcement agency or the Benton County Sheriff's office by calling 479-273-5532.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office maintains a highly trained and skilled unit of Cyber Crime Detectives committed to the investigation and prosecution of internet-enabled offenses. Our detectives work with several local, state, and federal agencies and task forces to multiply the resources available to target criminals who hide behind keyboards to prey on Benton County residents. In addition to reporting crimes to your local law enforcement agency or the Benton County Sheriff's Office, resources can be found at www.cybertipline.org for offenses involving children and www.ic3.gov for offenses involving adults.
