WINTER STORM UPDATE - 3:45 PM on Saturday
Winter weather alerts have been pushed out as we wait on this system to make its way into our area. Snow has already started to the North, as we have snow bands moving along the ND/SD border at this time.
Snow will continue to push to the South and East, as later tonight the SF area will see a rain-snow mix that will transition to just snow as we get into our Sunday. A Blizzard warning (shown in red) takes effect at 4 am Sunday and will stay in effect until Monday at 1am.
The blizzard warning for Sioux Falls and the metro area is for snow accumulations up to two inches, and winds in excess of 50 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph, creating whiteout conditions.
As you go farther north, snow totals increase, with Aberdeen expecting 10-18 inches, and Watertown expecting 8-18 inches of snow.
As of now, the Sioux Falls Metro area is only expecting 2 inches, but if snow bands push farther South, snow totals may increase.
