Busy day for Georgetown’s Ladder and area communities. Starting at 3am this morning the ladder was in Haverhill for their 3+ alarm fire. Then this afternoon Groveland requested assistance for their smoke in a building. Now, Ladder 1 is in Topsfield for coverage on their 2nd alarm fire. Another example of the strength of mutual aid.

4/11/26 (Saturday)
Due to elevated fire risk, which includes a combination of wind, low humidity, and a lack of recent significant rainfall lately there will be no open burning today.

04/10/2026

A friendly reminder that open burning season ends on May 1.

If you are planning on taking advantage of the open burning season to remove downed branches and twigs from this winters storms, please plan on doing it as soon as possible ahead of the end of the burning season.

As the sun continues to get higher in the sky, with typical windy spring days, and no tree canopy, ground debris tends to dry out quicker than during other parts of the year.

A higher fire danger may lead to days where burning is not allowed. Don't get caught not getting your open burning done, as the May 1 date will not get extended.
