Scam Alert 🚨
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has received recent reports of scam phone calls impersonating our office and its personnel. They are demanding payment for missed federal jury duty, warrants, and more, or you may face immediate arrest.
This is a scare tactic used to create a false sense of urgency and trick residents into sending money.
These calls can appear official by spoofing legitimate phone numbers, using real employee names and titles, or referencing publicly available personal information.
They are NOT credible. This is a SCAM.
We would like to remind the public that law enforcement will never call or text demanding payment or personal information.
If you receive a call like this:
• Hang up IMMEDIATELY
• Do NOT send money
• Do NOT share personal information
• Report it to non-emergency dispatch at 512-864-8282 (If you are in Williamson County)
If you are ever unsure about a phone call you receive from a government agency, contact that entity directly to confirm the legitimacy of the call.
Please share this information with your friends, family, and loved ones, especially the elderly who often fall victim to these kinds of scams.
