STOLEN CAR LEADS TO FOOT CHASE

A car tracker and some fast footwork led to the apprehension of joyriding juveniles in Andrews today. A Kia Soul was stolen early this morning from Cottonwood Street and its tracker pinged this afternoon on nearby Dogwood Street. When deputies arrived, they located the car occupied by three juveniles. The teens jumped out and fled the scene, leaving the car in drive, and it rolled into a nearby Red Dodge 1500.

Deputies were able to detain two of the teens after a lengthy foot pursuit. One of them was wearing an ankle monitor from DJJ. Deputies were able to use the monitor tracking to prove the juvenile had been in the stolen car all morning and he was cited with Receiving Stolen Goods Greater Than $2,000 but Less Than $5,000. The other juvenile was cited with Hindering. Both juveniles were released to their parents.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.

Sheamus, you have captured our hearts, you lucky charm! This adorable three-year-old matched the energy of Investigator Eric Holtzback perfectly, and they had a grand old time at today’s photo shoot. Sheamus is a gorgeous gingery copper mixed with a blinding white brisket and legs - our guess is that he’s a little redbone coonhound, some Hungarian Vizsla, and a dash of American pitbull. Sheamus is super popular at St. Frances with both humans and other dogs, and he adores kids (the feeling is mutual). He even seems to do well with cats. Sheamus is a genius, and taught himself “sit” and “shake” just to impress everyone. He is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated and neutered, and the picture of health.

You can meet Sheamus at St. Frances Animal Center Monday - Friday, 11 am - 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm at 125 N. Ridge Street, Georgetown.
