Some of the dogs at Scott County Animal Care & Control may also have the opportunity to come into foster care through Scott County Humane Society. Fostering gives a shelter dog a chance to relax in a home, lets us learn more about their personality, and can help them on their way to adoption.

🚜 Anyone with a barn that needs mousers? We have several cats that came from outside and are determined to get back out there!

🩺 All cats adopted out from us have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and received vaccines (including rabies)

Adult barn cats are $35 and the pair of kittens is $50. Call our office to discuss (502) 863-3279 or apply online under Barn Cats. All are at our adoption center (1376 Lexington Rd, Georgetown)!

☕🐾 Coffee date, anyone?

Our friends at Scott County Animal Care & Control took one of their adoptable dogs Rosie on a special outing to BIGGBY Coffee! From soaking up all the attention to showing off their sweet personality, she proved she’s more than ready to trade shelter life for a forever home.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry family member, now is the perfect time to meet this amazing dog. If you want to provide Rosie a temporary home until she’s found her forever family you can apply to be one of our volunteers!

Rosie is a 51-pound bundle of love, energy, and pure sweetness! This beautiful Pitbull has a playful spirit and an affectionate heart, always ready for an adventure, a game of fetch, or some quality time with her favorite people. Despite her energetic personality, Rosie is incredibly loving and enjoys giving kisses, cuddling, and being close to the people she trusts. Her happy personality and big heart make her the kind of dog who can brighten anyone’s day. Rosie is a wonderful combination of playful, loyal, affectionate, and sweet—and she would make a truly special companion. She had so much fun going to Biggby Coffee Georgetown, KY - 126 Amerson Way coffee to get a pupcup on National Dog Day!

☔️ We are in a furr-ocious downpour of cats! We’re so grateful to Central Purrk Cat Cafe for squeezing in extra cats and all you adopters who visit and take one home! Kitten Yoga was such a hit we may send more kittens over there soon! Stop by this week for one of their amazing beverages or to play with the kitties 😋🐈 Wed-Sat 11-7, Sun 12-5

🐶 Happy National Dog Day to all who celebrate! We started our celebration early doing free vaccines for the community last night! Thank you to for their support! 💜

Stay tuned as we will have more community services to add to our Free Food Bank (2 Fridays/month) and regular Free Vaccine Clinics. We’re so excited to share our new space with YOU! 💉🩺

🐾This past week was a great week for adoptions, with a total of 19 cats and one dog finding new homes!

Eight cats and one dog were adopted from our new Adoption Center. Cats Cloud, Hamish, Puff, Quincy, Stitch, and Zadie, along with Duke the dog, all went to their new homes, while Brambles and Zod were adopted by their foster families. Puff’s story will tug at your heart. Her owner recently passed away, and Puff was nervous and scared when she went to the shelter before coming to us. That kind of change would be difficult for any cat, but especially for a senior cat like Puff. Luckily, a family found Puff and gave her a new home. We are so happy for her.

Central Purrk celebrated six adoptions this week: Burger Queen, Emerald, Shadow, and Skyler went to their new homes, while kittens Jones and Kristy were adopted during the “Yoga with Kittens” event. What a great event!

Two cats, Beep and Cap, were adopted Saturday at PetSmart. Three cats, Baphy, Clara, and Precious, were adopted at Petsense.

If you haven’t already, stop by our new Adoption Center at 1376 Lexington Road in Georgetown. We cannot wait for you to see it. We are thrilled to provide our animals with a stimulating environment while they await adoption. In addition to the Adoption Center, you can also meet our adoptable animals at Petsense, Feeders Supply, and Central Purrk, all located in Georgetown. On Saturdays, we also host an adoption event at PetSmart on Pavilion Way in Lexington. Stop by, meet some amazing animals, and thank these businesses for supporting the Scott County Humane Society.

⚠️ Vaccines WILL be checked prior to admission.

❤️ The Scott County Humane Society will also be on-site accepting donations to help support local animals in need. Consider bringing a donation and helping us give back!
