REMINDER: Tomorrow, June 3, there will be a test of the Lookout Alert emergency notification system for Clear Creek County. The test begins in the morning (we don't have an exact time) and will include the Wireless Emergency Alert system, WEA. Testing Lookout Alert and WEA improves the ability to send timely, accurate, and actionable information during an emergency.

If you are registered for Lookout Alert, you may receive a test message(s) on Wednesday via text, phone call, and/or email. If you are not registered, we encourage all residents to register at lookoutalert.com. WEA does not require registration.

Not every person will receive every type of alert during the test. Delivery may depend on device settings, wireless carrier participation, phone location, registration information, and other technical factors. Receiving or not receiving a test message does not necessarily mean a phone or account is not working.

Last week, Assistant Town Administrator Kazia Hart and Public Information Officer, Marketing and Events Manager Anna-Lee Boerner completed Crisis Communication Training.

The course provided hands-on experience in emergency communications, media relations, crisis planning and first-hour response strategies. Through real-world scenarios and team exercises, participants learned how to communicate with clarity, compassion and transparency during critical incidents.

The Town of Georgetown remains committed to preparedness, professional development and serving the community with accurate and timely information when it matters most.

Volunteers are needed for Georgetown’s Independence Day celebration.

Community members (or visitors) interested in helping with the parade, hot dog eating contest, firefighter games, glow float activities and more are invited to attend a volunteer meeting from 9 to 10 a.m. June 13 at Hotel de Paris.
