THANK YOU MS. FAITH and Food Bank of Delaware Volunteers for saving the beautiful plastic bags for our Bags2Mats for the Homeless Volunteers!!! They will be flattened, cut and made into a mat for our unhoused brothers and sisters.

This is an open invitation for anyone who is interested is helping to repurpose the plastic bags into mats. Our team of volunteers wil be at the Newark Senior Center for 9:30-11:30am tomorrow and then again on 28th! Same time- same place. We can’t wait!!!

We have plastic galore!

Our friends collected almost 100 pounds of plastic material to benefit the Bags2Mats for the Homeless - Delaware. We will be using all the material we can but whatever we cannot will go to our friends at Eco Plastic Products of Delaware who will transform the discarded plastic into purposeful products. This just shows what an impact we can make when we come together!! Thank you Ms. Janet for taking the lead in coordinating these efforts!

Thank you to the New Castle County Volunteer Delaware 50+ Advisory Council for participating in to help raise funds for the volunteers that crochet items for our vulnerable neighbors in need; to include warm winter items made from yarn and mats for the homeless made from plastic bags.

A huge THAK YOU to The Ministry of Yarn for their continued support and helping us to make even more mats for our unhorsed friends.

Here at The Ministry of Yarn, we accumulate A LOT of plastic bags...all the yarn comes in bags! This is a couple months' worth going to Newark Senior Center where volunteers will first turn it into 'plarn' (plastic yarn), then crochet or weave it into sleeping mats and pillows for Bags2Mats for the Homeless - Delaware. What they're not able to use will get recycled into benches. Together we are keeping all this plastic out of landfills and oceans

We almost finished our first mat on a loom for 2026 - soooo sooo close!! No worries, in two weeks the mat will be coming off PLUS the second mat already has its base 💪🏽 .
