🚨 UPDATE - SUSPECT WAS APPREHENDED LAST NIGHT 🚨

Superb work by our deputies investigating, tracking and putting themselves in harms way the last couple days to bring Mr. Smith to justice.

A special thank you to assisting law enforcement agencies and cooperation from citizens that assisted our investigation.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate Matthew Smith.

Mr. Smith is the suspect in multiple active theft cases.

The 2026 Battle of the Birds, brought to you by Centerpoint Health, will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Cardinal Stadium. The Scott County High School Cardinals will host the Great Crossing High School Warhawks. The game starts at 7:30pm with a free community tailgate hosted by Centerpoint Health starting at 5pm.

Please make arrangements to carpool because parking at SCHS will be limited. A site map of the SCHS campus is included below ​and marks the entry point before the start of the game, drop off locations, and parking. Entrance to the SCHS campus will be from Long Lick Road. To control the flow of traffic and prevent back ups on the bypass, the gate at McClelland Circle will be exit only​, except for buses.

Once the SCHS lot is full, guests will be re-routed to park and take the free community shuttle from the Great Crossing High School football stadium. The shuttle from GCHS to SCHS will start at 6:00pm. Catch the shuttle at the GCHS football stadium entrance (Frankfort Road).

Please note, no backpacks and no pets are permitted at Cardinal Stadium. You may purchase tickets with cash at the gate or online for credit card purchases. Advanced ticket purchase is strongly suggested. Purchase tickets in advance here: https://gofan.co/event/6837869?schoolId=KY2825
