Another amazing High Tea with our wonderful friends from The Daughters of the British Empire! 🫖

🌸The Daughters of the British Empire is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fundraising for charitable causes and supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community.

This special event raised funds for The ROCK (Ride On Center for Kids), which provides equine-assisted services to help children and adults with disabilities, and Texas Humane Heroes, an organization committed to rescuing and finding loving homes for dogs and cats.

Our Independent Living residents enjoyed an elegant gathering filled with delicious treats, warm conversation, and lovely company—all while supporting these two wonderful charities.

We’re delighted that the DBE will return in the new year to share a special High Tea with our Memory Care friends. We can’t wait! 💕

The Delaney’s Young at Heart Choir performed its fall concert, “Lost in the ’50s,” and it was an afternoon filled with wonderful music, dancing, delicious food, and lots of smiles!

Residents from all three of our communities joined family and friends to enjoy this fantastic performance.

We were delighted to welcome back local author Kerry Dashnaw, along with her husband, Peter, for another wonderful visit!

Kerry shared the inspiring story behind her memoir, "Yearning to Be Free", which reflects on her time spent in a convent and the experiences that shaped her life. She also gave us a fascinating glimpse into her writing process, talked about other books she has helped write and illustrate, and shared what’s next in her creative journey.

One especially touching project is Kerry’s upcoming children’s book, inspired by her work with incarcerated mothers. Through this meaningful program, moms record themselves reading books for their children. Their children then receive both the book and an audio recording of their mother’s voice reading the story—a beautiful way to help families stay connected through the power of books. ❤️📚

Thank you, Kerry and Peter, for spending time with us and sharing such meaningful stories. We always enjoy having you visit and look forward to seeing what Kerry creates next!

📚✨ Meet the Local Author: Myrna Cardwell Smith!✨📚

We had a wonderful time learning about the world of writing and publishing with local author Myrna Cardwell Smith!

Myrna shared what inspires her writing and how her great-niece and great-nephews have even played a special role as her junior editors. ❤️📖

She also introduced us to her published works, including "Second Perspective" (written under the name Pola Sinclair), as well as her two young adult chapter books, "Curly Ribbons" – Book 1 and Book 2.

Our conversation offered a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at bringing a book to life, including:

✍️ Finding the “flow” of writing
📝 Working with a professional book editor
📚 Navigating the publishing process
🎉 The exciting experience of receiving a finished, published book
