Reminder: Free evacuation workshop on Tuesday! Evergreen Fire/Rescue is hosting a free Evacuation Planning Workshop at our middle school/high school on Sept 1. Clear Creek residents are encouraged to attend; no registration is required.

On this day in 2001, we hired Detentions Deputy Brown. Today, we celebrate Undersheriff Brown’s 25-year anniversary!

In 25 years, Deputy Brown has served in all four divisions of the Sheriff’s Office: Detentions, Patrol, Special Operations, and Administration. After a stint in Patrol, he rose through the ranks in Detentions from corporal to sergeant to lieutenant, before being promoted to Captain of Special Operations in 2020. He was appointed as second-in-command under the previous administration and continues to serve Sheriff Thornton, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Clear Creek community as your Undersheriff.

Final Update 8:30 at 4:15pm: Crash has been moved to the shoulder. Both lanes of I-70 East are open at mm 227. Traffic backup is approx. 4 - 5 miles so will take a bit to clear out.

Update 8/30 at 3:40 pm: Both lanes of I-70 East at mm 227 are closed for the crash. New photo added.

Happening Now 8/30 at 3:30pm: Multi-vehicle crash on I-70 East mm 227 (just west of Georgetown). Unknown injury. Left lane is currently blocked. Colorado State Patrol will be investigating the crash.

At C3 Fest, we have something for everyone! Local businesses have donated more than $1,500 in door prizes that will be given away tomorrow, Aug. 29. Clear Creek County has a rich history western mining history that several of our donors want to share with you. At C3 Fest, you'll have a chance to win:
✨ "Victorian Visitors," a book rich with history donated by the Hotel de Paris Museum
✨ One of two "Where The Old West Meets New Adventure" bags embroidered and donated by one of our kitchen managers, Rachel
✨ A $25 gift card to Mining the West Books in Georgetown

You'll also have a chance to enjoy Tommy Knocker Root Beer or Orange Creme soda, generously donated by TKB!

Press Release: Clear Creek Sheriff's Office to Hose C3 Fest

The CCSO is hosting C3 Fest on Saturday, August 29, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Idaho Springs ballfields, 101 E. Idaho Springs Road. C3 Fest – for Clear Creek County Fest – brings public safety agencies and the community together in a fun, family-friendly environment. Residents, kids, and visitors can meet local first responders and explore emergency equipment during this free event.

Over 15 local and partner public safety agencies are participating in C3 Fest, and local businesses have donated more than $1,500 in door prizes that will be given away during the event. C3 Fest will also have live music by Trainwreck, face painting, and food trucks on site. And new this year, the Sheriff’s Office is debuting its bounce house, dubbed “Jaily Donuts.” (See attached photo.)

Clear Creek community members and visitors are encouraged to join the Sheriff’s Office and local and partner public safety agencies at this year’s C3 Fest:

We were going to give out keychains at Saturday's C3 Fest. But then Sheriff Thornton decided to make his own chain and we donut have any more 😢.

Just kidding 😜 - We have plenty! Come get your keychain, explore cool emergency equipment, meet first responders, listen to live music, win a door prize, and have a great time. The kiddos can do all of the above AND jump in our new Jaily Donuts bounce house, have their face painted, and get a temporary tattoo too!

We'll be at the Idaho Springs ballfields (101 E Idaho Springs Rd) on August 29 from 11am - 2pm. We hope you see you there!
