Our Community Advisory Committee has been meeting with us monthly to learn more about the Sheriff's Office, discuss issues facing our agency, and provide feedback. This month, they had an opportunity to practice de-escalation during scenarios involving a suspicious person, an irate driver during a traffic stop, and an individual experiencing a mental health crisis. While members of Clear Creek County's Community Crisis and Health Assessment Team (CCHAT) role-played these scenarios, our deputies often face similar situations on the street.
Deputies train in de-escalation each year, and we employ de-escalation techniques daily. We are grateful for our partners at CCHAT, who assist Clear Creek law enforcement agencies when we respond to calls that involve individuals who may be vulnerable, at risk, or in crisis.
