The City opened an improved, 0.8-mile portion of Rockride Lane today 🚙

From SE Inner Loop to Sam Houston Avenue, the road now has wider travel lanes, a center turn lane, right-turn lanes at intersections, curbs, and a shared-use path.

The project also includes a new traffic signal at the intersection of Rockride Lane and Sam Houston Avenue 🚦

The $12 million project was funded by the 2021 Georgetown transportation bond💲

Georgetown’s rivers and creeks play a vital role in our community and our local ecosystem. Did you know chemicals and other pollutants often make it into those waterways by way of our stormwater drainage system?

Because water coming from your storm drain isn’t treated like the wastewater leaving your home, it is important we don’t wash, dump, blow, or sweep the following down the storm drain:

🏡 Grass clippings
🍂 Leaves
💩 Pet waste
🛢️ Antifreeze and other chemicals
🏊Pool chemicals and lawn fertilizers

These can hurt aquatic life and pollute our water sources.
There are easy steps you can take to keep our waterways clean of bacteria and chemicals:
🐕 Pick up after your pets
🛢️ Dispose of chemicals at household hazardous waste collection events
🧪 Allow chlorine to dissipate naturally before draining slowly onto grassy areas. Use organic fertilizers, follow the directions on the label, and don’t fertilize before a storm

👀 If you see illegal dumping into the storm drain inlet, report it to askGTX 👉 Georgetowntexas.gov/askgtx
