The Georgetown Fire Department is presently hosting a “Touch a Truck” event at Tractor Supply. We invite you to attend and familiarize yourself with the equipment and personnel responsible for maintaining community safety. Additionally, the Brown County Humane Society is in attendance, seeking support for their adoption initiatives. Also feeling a little cold? Two coffee stands are available in the parking lot. This event will wrap up at 2 p.m. and we look forward to meeting you soon!

The association fund stays separate from the money received from taxes and allows the department to purchase additional equipment and support our members and the community responsibly because no tax money is used.

Waldom Electronics had our members out today to teach their staff in CPR, AED, and first aid. The department is proud to have formed a great working relationship with Waldom Electronics and their staff, and commend them for taking steps to educate their staff on early CPR and AED usage. Adequate CPR before the arrival of EMS has been proven to improve survival rates in out of hospital cardiac arrest patients. We love to see our community take steps to learn these valuable skills.

Over the last two days members of the department had the opportunity to train the next generation of firefighters. These students are currently enrolled in the Fire and EMS program at Brown and Clermont Adult Career Campus. On both days the students utilized the ground ladders off of Ladder 75 to train in various ladder evolutions. Today they finished the day by doing a ladder maze where they had to ascend and descend multiple ladders including the aerial ladder on Ladder 75. They were definitely worn out when they went home this afternoon but the future looks bright with these firefighter trainees!

Once again the department would like to thank Wade, Lori, and the entire Parkers’ family for their incredible generosity! Not only does their generosity allow us to buy additional equipment to help our community, but they also help us honor and remember the events of 9/11, a day that even 24 years later is still one of the most revered in the fire service!
