Due to high winds, the Gering Landfill will be closed for all residential and commercial loads except garbage trucks on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The Gering Landfill will not be accepting any loads of loose garbage.

POOL CLOSURE NOTICE

The pool is temporarily closed while staff complete required cleaning and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe swimming environment for all guests.

As a reminder, children who are not fully toilet trained must wear a properly fitting swim diaper while in the pool. Swim diapers help protect water quality and reduce the likelihood of pool closures.

🚧 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

The City of Gering would like to notify residents that U Street between 13th Street and 17th Street is closed immediately through Monday, June 15, 2026, due to emergency street repairs.

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling near the work area.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work to complete these necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

We believe every child should have the opportunity to learn to swim. Gering Swimming Pool staff's desire is to instruct children on the fundamentals of swimming and provide the opportunity to gain confidence in the water. Each session of lessons are two weeks and consist of 45 minutes of instruction.

Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m.
Session dates are as follows:
June 8 - 19
June 22 - July 3
July 13 - 24

$30.00 with pool pass
$45.00 without pool pass

ADDITIONAL UPDATE REGARDING TEMPORARY POWER OUTAGE IN GERING

GERING: City officials would like to provide an additional update to residents living on Pappas Blvd. and nearby streets regarding the temporary power outage. As was previously reported, power has been restored. City Electric Department personnel originally planned to complete repair work this evening; however, preparation for the repairs will not be completed until tomorrow. City crews will still need to have a temporary power outage at an undetermined time to finish the repairs. Because City officials do not know when the outage will be, residents of the area are encouraged to call the City Utility Office at (308) 436-6800 on Tuesday, June 2, for more information.

The properties that will be affected are:

45 K to 425 K Street (15 houses)
75 L Street, 115 L Street, 155 L Street and 175 L Street (apartment complexes)
10 I Street
1010 to 1070 Pappas Blvd. (houses)

Power has been restored; however, City Electric Department personnel will need to have a temporary power outage between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. this evening to finish the repairs.

The properties that will be affected are:

45 K to 425 K Street (15 houses)
75 L Street, 115 L Street, 155 L Street and 175 L Street (apartment complexes)
10 I Street
1010 to 1070 Pappas Blvd. (houses)

If any resident in this area of Gering does not currently have power, they should call the City Utility Office at (308) 436-6800.
