Caught this Wyoming Air National Guard Lockheed C-130 Hercules (tail #21536, callsign “Teton 36”) lifting off from Cheyenne Airport. The Wyoming Air Guard is based right there, so there’s usually something interesting in the pattern. Whenever my wife heads into Cheyenne to shop, I’m often nearby in a parking lot plane-spotting and photographing aircraft — definitely my kind of waiting around. Fun fact: the C-130 production line has been running for 70 years, the longest of any military aircraft.

Casper Fog Invasion — Mountain Time-Lapse
I spent about three hours last night on Casper Mountain Road near mile marker 7, camped out at the scenic overlook with my GoPro set up for a star-trail time-lapse. My goal was to capture the sky swirling overhead, but what happened ended up being even better than planned. While the mountain stayed perfectly clear and full of stars, a massive fog bank rolled into Casper below. From above, it looked like a roaring flood, huge waves of white water surging through the city. Watching it collide with the lights below was surreal—one of those moments where opportunity meets preparation. I couldn’t have asked for better luck, and I’m grateful I was ready to capture it.

✈️ Photo of the Day – Cessna on Final Approach!
Adventure found me today at Casper–Natrona County International Airport. The incredibly friendly team at the Aero Center Casper FBO tipped me off to an awesome little spot right near Runway 3—perfect for catching aircraft as they come in low for landing.
They weren’t kidding! I set up, waited a moment, and boom—this beautiful Cessna came sweeping in on final approach. I managed to capture a close-up packed with detail and energy. The sound of the engine, the wheels reaching for the runway, and that rush of wind… what a moment.
If you ever find yourself in Casper, bring your camera and your sense of adventure—this place is a hidden gem for aviation lovers! 🛩️📸
