Today is the LAST day to apply! Be sure to tell a student at the University of Memphis to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

:: Sylvia Jean Patterson Memorial Scholarship ::

Sylvia Jean Patterson was a college roommate of The 516 Foundation Founder, Dr. Christina Rosenthal. After high school, Sylvia and Dr. Rosenthal both attended the University of Memphis. What began as a random assignment during sophomore year became a lifelong friendship. The memories are plentiful, and Sylvia supported Dr. Rosenthal in every single way, even being a bridesmaid in her wedding! She was a true friend, not only to Dr. Rosenthal but to others on The 516 board, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the University of Memphis community, and to many she met near and far.

In an effort to honor her, The 516 Foundation has developed a $1,000 scholarship to a student who attends the University of Memphis. In addition to the scholarship, the winner is also treated to a mentorship dinner with Dr. Rosenthal.
