Students across Germantown Municipal Schools are invited to participate in this year’s Germantown Municipal Council PTO Essay and Art Contest, themed “Unity Is Our Superpower.” The contest celebrates how collaboration, kindness, and diversity strengthen our school communities.

All students currently enrolled in a GMSD school are eligible to enter. Entries will be judged in four grade divisions:

High School: Grades 9–12
Middle School: Grades 6–8
Older Elementary: Grades 3–5
Younger Elementary: Grades K–2

Deadline: February 6, 2026

Writing Contest: Students may submit one original piece in a single category—personal narrative, short story, or poetry—that reflects this year’s theme.

High school entries should range from 500–1,000 words.
Middle school entries should range from 200–800 words
Elementary entries should range from 100–200 words.
All submissions must include a completed entry form, be original and unpublished, and should not include the student’s name on the entry itself.

HHS Class of 2026 showed up!!! Last night at the Germantown BMA they came to speak on behalf of GMSD for additional funding toward the Houston HS Master plan. These three rockstars have ZERO to gain by speaking out, as they will never see any of the master plan improvements in their remaining time at Houston HS. This was a selfless act to come and share their perspective as students, athletes and ambassadors and explain just how dire the need is for improvement at Houston High School is in.
We couldn't be more proud of these young folks if they were our own children. Students deserve to be proud of their school not only for its academic and athletic success, but for the beautiful facility a city like Germantown should boast.
Let me introduce you to these student ambassadors(from left to right).
Lilah Jones, SGA Public Relations and Houston High Varsity Golf
Terrance Wright Jr., SGA President and GMSD Communications Intern, HHS Leadership Academy
Ethan Stickles, SGA Mustang Mob Chairman, Varsity Football, Varsity Baseball, TSSAA Student Advisory Board Founding member, HHS Leadership Academy
If you see these fine young adults, shake their hands and if you have younger children, thank them for what they did for the future of HHS.
