GCFR and Geronimo VFD Partnership Leads to Rapid Response That Helped Save Local Home

Guadalupe County Fire Rescue crews assigned to the newly staffed Geronimo fire station recently responded to a residential structure fire in the Navarro Ranch subdivision, arriving on scene in approximately four minutes after dispatch.

Because firefighters were already positioned within the community through the partnership between Guadalupe County Fire Rescue and the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department, crews were able to immediately begin fire attack and search operations, significantly limiting fire extension and helping save the home.

This incident highlights the importance of strategically staffing fire stations in growing areas of Guadalupe County and continuing strong partnerships with local volunteer fire departments to enhance emergency response capabilities and improve outcomes for residents.

“Partnerships like this with Geronimo VFD allow our firefighters to already be positioned within the community they serve. When emergencies happen, minutes matter. Having full-time staffing at the Geronimo station allows crews to respond immediately, begin rescue and suppression operations faster, and greatly improve outcomes for our residents and community,” said Patrick Pinder, Guadalupe County Fire Marshal/Emergency Management Coordinator.

Guadalupe County remains committed to strengthening emergency services through partnerships, station staffing, and regional coordination to meet the needs of the county’s growing population.
