🌟GASD Glows Nominations Open!

As we open nominations for this year's GASD Glows, we're looking back at one of the moments that captured exactly what this recognition is all about.

Last year, GAHS counselors surprised Mrs. Myers by showing up in matching Warrior gear. What may have seemed like a simple surprise became a sweet moment, one that celebrated an incredible colleague and showed just how much she means to the people around her.

That's what GASD Glows is all about, recognizing the people who make a difference and celebrating the moments that matter.

Nominate someone special for the GASD Glows staff recognition program today: https://gasd-pa.org/GASDGlows26. ✨🎉

❤This is what community looks like!

We are so grateful to Ruth's Harvest Gettysburg for their incredible generosity toward our students and families. Their recent donation helped clear ALL remaining student meal debt at each of our three elementary schools for the 2025-2026 school year.

That is a big deal for our Warriors and their families. It means they can start the school year with one less thing to worry about, and we are thankful to have a community that continues to show up for our Warriors when it matters most.

A BIG thank you to Ruth's Harvest Gettysburg for caring for our students and families in such a meaningful way. We truly appreciate all you do.

For our families: Families who qualified for free or reduced-price meals last school year must submit a new application by October 1 to continue receiving those benefits. New families to the district and families whose students did not qualify for free or reduced-price meals last year are also encouraged to apply if their circumstances have changed or they believe they may now qualify.

🍦Throwback Thursday to a memorable night at Mr. G's!

Superintendent Dr. Matzner and Assistant Superintendent Dr. McFarland stepped behind the counter as celebrity scoopers, serving up ice cream and spending the evening with students, staff, and members of our community.

The Warrior Way flavor was also a highlight. Red velvet ice cream with marshmallow and cookies made for a sweet tribute to our Warrior community.

A big thank you to Mr. G's for the invitation and for bringing so many people together for a wonderful evening.

🎨 Making their Mark

With characters like Bingo and Squidward, our seniors are bringing creativity and vibrant color to the GAHS parking lot!

Parking spot painting is a tradition that gives seniors the chance to make their spot their own, and we love seeing the time and dedication they've put into bringing their designs to life.

Finished with your spot? Drop a photo in the Google Form: https://gasd-pa.org/parking-spot-photo to be featured! 🖌

📺 A quick programming update!

Our CBS21 interview has been rescheduled to early next week due to other coverage, and we’re looking forward to sharing more about the incredible ways our social workers and students are supporting Warriors across GASD. Stay tuned!

GASD social workers, Whitney Eby (left) and Jennifer Weigle (center right), will be featured next week on CBS21 in Back to School coverage. They'll be joined by GAHS Principal Jeremy Lusk and two GAHS seniors, who will share their experiences as members of Warrior Ambassadors and the Hope Squad.

Our dedicated social workers were all smiles this week after receiving an incredible donation of school supplies, food, hygiene products, and so much more to support our Warriors and their families throughout the school year. The donations were collected during a drive held as part of the Kiwanis Pennsylvania District Convention in Gettysburg, and we could not be more grateful for their generosity and support. ❤
