The loading is done, and there is still space for my baggage and some food for the first few days.
I plan to roll at 730am, down US 15S to I-70 W to I-81S into VA and on to I-40 W for most of the next three days.
I must say that the manager at our Gettysburg Enterprise takes good care of me on these trips. I've had a Jeep Wrangler for the last few years now, and by far it's best suited to my freight needs, and the best part, it's a Jeep!

My annual road trip back to So Cal begins on Tuesday after loading up the rental from Enterprise with camp gear, uniforms and ten day's supply of Orange-Orange Vitamin water.
The fundraising campaign was successful to provide for all my needs on the round trip journey once again, and the two days of living history story telling for Huntington Beach Civil War Days will be quite engaging.

Interesting event last night. Athens historical society and the Spalding library hosted a joint fundraiser they do every year with food, wine, booze and silent auctions. They had a pergola area with a gold frame and that was my station where for a donation of $5, the gusts could get a photo with General Grant. Some folks did not want to wait to get to the set up area, so I was accommodating to visit them at their tables and pose if they liked.
The library folks were very appreciative and local guests will be reaching out to their own libraries in Sayre and Waverly about bringing me up for shows. That would be nice. The Spalding Memorial Library folks treat me well, and I am happy to return when they call.

Today in 1852, the namesake and second son of Ulysses S. Grant was born while Grant was posted with the 4th Infantry regiment in northern California.
When Julia's letter arrived a few weeks later, he wrote back asking what the "S" stood for in little Lyss's name.

An update on the So Cal fundraising... as we are also down to the final two weeks in the heart of Gettysburg and our move for August 1st.
As of now I am funded out for the event, and almost all the way back. It looks like I need help from a point somewhere on I-81 along the Shenandoah viewing area in Virginia.
