A Virtual Passover of Hope

“Passover Sheini is a “second” Passover that many Jews celebrate one month after the festival.

This year, we celebrate with a virtual Passover of Hope that highlights the themes of journeying from darkness and pain to light and hope.

Faith leaders, many whom participated on the Buffalo Jewish Federation trip to Israel in 2017, will offer messages that build on each of these themes.

05/07/2020

A Virtual Passover of Hope is starting in 15 minutes on Facebook LIVE right here! Stay tuned!

We are here for you and our entire community. And we will get through this together!

We are here for you and our entire community. And we will get through this together!

We are so grateful for Stacey Block & the Buffalo Jewish Federation’s Buffalo Moms for Momentum, who collected and donated all of the items we were in need of for one of our refugee families. We posted our need, and this group responded instantly, collecting all of the items we asked for and more, in a matter of days. We could not be more thankful for the help of our community during this time. Thank you so much!!!

Since April 1, Jewish Buffalo raised $303,715 for the Community Compassion Fund.

143 furloughed Jewish communal workers received financial support.

Over 150 Jews isolated in their homes received Seder essentials to celebrate Passover.

Families received assistance with burial arrangements.

AND TOGETHER, WE CAN DO MORE!

100% of every dollar contributed will go to support INDIVIDUALS and FAMILIES. Jewish Family Service of Buffalo & Erie County will administer the funds to assure our most vulnerable populations are taken care of in the strictest of confidence. These critical funds will assist those impacted by Covid-19 with mental health & wellness counseling, food, prescriptions, rent subsidies, and other essentials.

To date, dozens of leaders and major donors have already contributed to the Fund.

CAN YOU HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $360,000?

From our Family to Yours, we wish you a Happy Virtual Passover!

Our Passover Seders may look different this year, but the meaning of the Passover festival remains the same. As we gather this week, in person or virtually, may we see ourselves as if we were redeemed from Egypt; and may we all be redeemed from this pandemic to find our way to liberation.

Help spread the word. For the 11th year, Buffalo Psychiatric Center will be hosting the annual Survivors of Suicide Loss Day program on November 17, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This program is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and we know from past experience that this program can help those who have lost loved ones to suicide find comfort and understanding as they move forward in dealing with their grief. We will gather in the Butler Rehabilitation Center for the free program which runs from 1-3 p.m. after the registration period from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. We encourage advance registration to assist us in planning, but walk-ins are always welcome. Call 816-2014 or email [email protected]. Please share this information.
I find it very sad and disturbing that here in Buffalo we do not have have a community notification system (i.e. someone that takes the lead), like Syracuse does where all law enforcement agencies, synagogues are notified immediately during such as the horrific event that happened in Pittsburgh. I personally learned of the incident long before it hit the news wires due the security protocols that exist in Syracuse. Please join me in developing such a system here! We needed it yesterday.
Thank you Rob Goldberg for sharing our Israel Partnership with the Buffalo community. https://www.facebook.com/p2gwgalil/posts/1817667334951477
