It's the first Day of National Kite Month, April 1-April 30. For us kite fliers it usually means workshops, demonstrations and festivals but for the average Joe it may be just another item on your newsfeed. If that's you I'd invite you to dig an old kite out of storage and give it some air time. Maybe you know of a kite festival nearby or a group of fliers that get together. Either way take the kids and kites and enjoy some quality time reliving your own childhood memories.
For those already into kiting, I invite you to spread the joy of kiting to friends and neighbors, schools and churches. Wether it be a kite demo at the local YMCA or church, a workshop with elementary or other school kids. Just color the sky with some new friends. I turn 50 this year and I desperately want to see the hobby of kite flying passed on to another generation. There are so many beautiful kites out there designed by some amazingly extraordinary people. These kites need to be seen by the masses. So go out as often as you can this month and share the love in your heart by putting kites in the sky and in the hands of a younger generation.
