🚌 🛑 NEW 2026 MINNESOTA LAW – SCHOOL BUS SAFETY 🛑 🚌

With students heading back to school, motorists should be aware of an important change to Minnesota’s school bus safety law.

🔴 FLASHING RED LIGHTS = STOP

Under the new law, the flashing red lights alone require motorists to stop. You do NOT have to wait for the school bus stop arm to be fully extended.

When you see flashing red lights:
➡️ Stop at least 20 feet from the bus.
➡️ Remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing.
➡️ Do not wait for the stop arm, the red lights mean STOP.

🟡 FLASHING AMBER LIGHTS = WARNING

Amber lights mean the bus is preparing to stop and the red lights will soon activate. Slow down and prepare to stop.

⚠️ The biggest change: Previously, the law required the stop arm to be extended. Under the new 2026 law, flashing red lights alone require you to stop.

Please help spread the word by sharing this post. A few extra seconds of patience can help keep our kids safe. ❤️

🚌 See red. Stop. Every time.

Our pets are like family, they should be safe in the event of a fire too!

Be sure to include your pets in your family emergency exit plans, have an emergency kit for yourselves but also for your pets, place a pet alert sticker on your doors so we know there may be pets in the home in the event of an emergency.

Who doesn't love fried food??

If you choose to fry your own, be sure to always stay in the kitchen when doing so on the stove top.

What causes a fire?? Well, you need these three things to make fire happen: Fuel, Oxygen, and Heat.

🔥 Heat is the energy source that starts a fire. It's often the first element involved, and without enough heat, a fire can't begin or grow.

⛽ Fuel is anything that burns. It feeds a fire and keeps it going.

💨 Oxygen helps a fire spread by feeding the chemical reaction that keeps it burning.

When all three of these come together they form a chemical reaction that causes fire. Take one of the three away, and the fire goes out!

One of our recent drills was based on driving and also finding addresses. Here is how YOU can help US find your address in the event of an emergency!

- House numbers should be visible from the street, meaning they should be at a minimum of 4" tall.

- When possible post your address in a lighted area, or at least use reflective numbers.

- If there are weeds, plants, or decorations blocking your address from a clear view of sight, be sure to remove them.

- If you live on a longer driveway, or your home is set back in your lot, make sure your address is on your mailbox, or affixed to something close to the road so we can see it.

Address

1173 1st Avenue
Gibbon, MN
