It's heating up!! Take care of yourself and others and know the signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses. It is very easy to get dehydrated so be sure you are drinking proper fluids, staying cool, all while still enjoying the summer!

We are excited to announce the GFW Track and Field athletes who are headed to STATE! Please join us in celebrating Annie Wersal (Discus) and Silvana Ruiz (800m).

There will be a sendoff at the GFW High School Thursday June 4th 12:15 PM. The local fire department will be es**rting the track fleet out of Gibbon, and the Winthrop ambulance and fire department will then es**rt them through Winthrop at 12:30pm on Highway 19.

Please come out and show your support for these athletes! We would love to see everyone at the high school and lined up along Highway 19 in Winthrop. Signs are highly encouraged.

We hope to see you there!

Special EMS week Fun Fact Friday!! Did You Know???? --

The first known VOLUNTEER Rescue Squad (like us!) was organized in Roanoke, Virginia. These squads were often controlled by the municipal hospital or fire department. Funeral home hearses, which had been the common mode of transport (we had a FFF about that earlier!), were being replaced by fire department, rescue squad and private ambulances.

🚑 It is EMS week!

Even though our whole department is EMS, this week we especially recognize our 9, yes NINE, EMTs!

It is a requirement of our department to be either an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or an EMT. Becoming an EMT takes up to an additional 200 hours of training, plus required continuing education training each year, so it is no small feat!

We thank these pictured 7 as well as our two newest EMTs for all of their hard work and dedication to Gibbon and our surrounding townships! 💪

It's fun Friday!!

How about another seek and find from Sparky. A little fun all while remembering to stay safe while in the kitchen.

Sparky says to stay at least 3 feet away from the stove and always keep hot items away from little hands. A grown-up should decide when it’s safe to use the microwave.
