We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

As we enter the final 3 days of the school year, our hallways are filled with excitement, and we have so many incredible milestones and traditions to celebrate across the district. Here is a look at what is happening as we close out the year:

Honoring Excellence: We kick off the celebrations with our BSS Awards Ceremony, recognizing the hard work and achievements of our elementary students. Also, NMS will host its Exceeding Expectations Assembly to spotlight our middle schoolers who have gone above and beyond this year.

Middle School Preparation: Our future 5th-graders will be visiting NMS for a special orientation as they prepare for their exciting transition to middle school! NMS looks forward to welcoming the future class of 2029.

Staff vs. Students Matchups: Some of our BSS students will take the field to face off against their teachers in our highly anticipated yearly Softball Game! Due to the weather on Friday, the NMS wiffle ball game will also take place this week between our students and teachers as well. May the best team win!

8th-grade celebration: Our 8th-graders will hold their graduation and share memories at their end-of-year breakfast. Congratulations to the GTSD class of 2026! We are excited to celebrate your achievement and look forward to seeing you continue to grow in high school!

Thank you to our entire district community for your support! Let’s finish strong, make some amazing final memories, and celebrate the incredible growth of our students!

We hope everyone had a great weekend. We can officially say, we have made it to the final month of the 2025–26 school year!

This week, we will see our very last class trip of the year as our 6th and 7th-graders head out for their adventure.

Throughout this entire spring trip season, we have been extremely proud of all our students across the district. From the rides to the venues, our Bulldogs have represented our schools and our community with outstanding behavior, kindness, and respect wherever they've gone. Thank you to our students for being such amazing ambassadors, and to our staff and chaperones for making these trips possible!

Looking Ahead to Next Week: The end-of-year excitement is only growing! Get ready for two major days next week:

Broad Street School Field Day and Nehaunsey Middle School Phillies Day!

We hope everyone had a safe and restful weekend. As a district, we want to take a moment to extend our deepest respect and gratitude in honor of Memorial Day. We remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country to protect our freedom. Their legacy is a reminder of the values of service and community that we strive to uphold every day in our schools.

As we head back into the hallways today, we are kicking off the final 17 days of the 2025-26 school year!

We have a packed schedule ahead and look forward to seeing our Bulldogs enjoy:
Class trips
End-of-the-year celebrations and assemblies
Field Day
Bulldog Blowout
Phillies Day
And more!

We all know that these experiences bring an incredible amount of fun and energy to our buildings. We can't wait to celebrate all of our students' hard work this year and create lasting memories together before the summer break begins.

As we begin this week, we want to begin by extending a heartfelt thank you to our entire community. Your overwhelming support, compassion, and strength over the past several days have meant the world to our students and staff. While we continue to navigate this difficult time together, we have been moved by the way everyone has been respectful and patient with one another.

In the spirit of healing, we want to share a few moments of light that have taken place across our district:

Last week, we proudly inducted 18 new student members into our Nehaunsey Middle School National Junior Honor Society Chapter. These students were chosen for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. We look forward to seeing them continue to serve as positive role models in our schools and community.

This week, we are excited to see our 4th-grade students bring history to life! Our students have been working hard on their research and final projects. We look forward to seeing them showcase their projects in the Wax Museum that will feature a variety of historical figures and celebrities.

We are so proud of their accomplishments and grateful for a community that supports them.

As we return to our hallways today, our hearts remain heavy with the loss of one of our beloved students. We know that coming back to school after a difficult weekend brings a mix of emotions for our students, our staff, and our families. Please know that our students will not walk through this void alone.

As a reminder, we will have the following resources available on-site:
We have additional counseling teams and mental health professionals from around the county and state in each building for students and staff who need a safe space to talk or process.

We will also have therapy dogs who will provide comfort and support to our students and staff.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for your continued grace and for the way you have supported one another during this incredibly difficult time. If you feel your child needs specific outreach, please do not hesitate to contact your school’s front office.

We are more than just a school district; we are a family. Let’s continue to lead with kindness and look out for one another as we enter the week ahead.

Greenwich Township Community,

I want to start by expressing my sincere and deepest condolences to the family affected by the tragedy of yesterday.

While we cannot provide any additional information at this time due to the ongoing police investigation, our primary focus is the well-being of our students, staff, and families. We want to offer several support services to help our greater community navigate this difficult time together:

Immediate Community Support Starting today, Saturday, May 9, at 9:00 AM, members of our community are invited to gather at Clonmell United Methodist Church to seek comfort and support. There will be an on-site mental health professional and a therapy dog available to provide a peaceful space for those in need.

Starting on Monday, both schools will have mental health professionals available to provide dedicated support to our entire staff and student body. We will also have therapy dogs on-site including Scooby, who is already a familiar and comforting face to our BSS students to offer additional emotional support.

Our schools are an extension of our community, and we are committed to being a source of strength and support for your children. If your child needs anything at all, please contact your school’s main office starting on Monday, and we will do our very best to provide the care and resources they need.

Students will have varied reactions to the loss of a peer. Any reaction is normal in the grief process and can range from withdrawal to crying and anger. Parents and guardians, we encourage you to openly discuss with your child their reactions and feelings regarding the loss of a classmate. We should expect, try to understand, and accept a variety of emotions and behaviors.

As we move forward together, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the incredible support you continue to show to one another. Please know that we are here for you.

With deepest sympathy,

Ryan Hudson
