Each year, the Leroy Fall Festival committee hosts a Special Persons Day prior to opening. It's a lower sensory and small crowd environment that allows special needs students to experience the sights, sounds and fun of the festival. Thanks to our Special Ed Dept for planning our participation.

In addition to our new playground, you’ll also find this memorial to Butch, Mrs Schmitt’s therapy dog who passed last year. Butch spent many years getting pets in the hallway and bringing comfort to anxious Falcons. Logan Luparell’s Eagle Scout project is certainly a fitting remembrance to the pup’s profound influence on GCMS.

HOF Inductee.. Charles Henry Rohrer was born and raised in Sibley. While in high school he was a 4 year member of the track & baseball teams and attended the University of Illinois to study engineering and participate in track. After his freshman year he returned home to his true love of farming where he married Leah Ward, an elementary school teacher in Sibley. They had one son, Robert C. Rohrer. Charles raised registered black Angus cattle along with his farming responsibilities. In August of 1956 Charles died suddenly from a heart attack at 45. Sibley lost a legend, a special son & citizen. His son Robert would marry Neva Vetter and they raised three children Mark, Karen & Amy who would all graduate from Melvin-Sibley High School.

They’re a humble bunch but our local bus garage was recently recognized for their safety record, accumulating over 3000 accident/injury free days! Kari Ryan-Cline and her staff take great care transporting our students and we’re grateful for all they do. Congratulations on the well deserved honor!

The football/track facility is still in construction mode but the games must go on! THE RULE: stay on paved surfaces at all times. There is lots of mud and the grass areas are still saturated. Reach out to Mr Schwenk if you have questions about accomodations for Friday's ballgame.
