Position Title: Maintenance Worker

The town of Gibson is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Part-Time Maintenance Worker to assist with the maintenance and operation of municipal facilities, grounds, and utility systems. This position performs a variety of outdoor maintenance duties, including mowing, water meter reading, bulk trash collection, and assisting with water and sewer system maintenance and repairs as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:
* Mow and maintain town-owned properties, rights-of-way, and public spaces.
* Read and record residential and commercial water meters accurately.
* Collect and dispose of bulk trash throughout the community.
* Assist with repairs and maintenance of the municipal water distribution and sewer collection systems.
* Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, w**d trimmers, hand tools, and light utility vehicles.
* Respond to maintenance needs and emergency repairs when requested.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED preferred.
* Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
* Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
* Basic mechanical aptitude and experience operating lawn maintenance equipment preferred.
* Experience in water and sewer maintenance is preferred but not required; training may be provided.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements Include:
* Frequently lift up to 50+ pounds.
* Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods.
* Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around utility equipment.
Work Schedule:
* Part-time position, approximately 20–30 hours per week (schedule may vary based on operational needs).
* Occasional after-hours or emergency work may be required.
