BOLO: Be On the Lookout (for Her Owner)

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 26, 2026, we located and impounded this sweet girl in the area of Point Fosdick Drive and Olympic Drive in Gig Harbor.

She has been taken into protective custody while we work to identify and locate her human.

Although she got to play Chief for the morning, we’re pretty sure she’d rather be home! If she’s yours, or you know who her owner may be, please contact the Gig Harbor Police Department so we can get her home where she belongs. 🐾

As always, we appreciate our community’s help spreading the word!

Are you ready, Gig Harbor? Art of the Game is on again!

Last week, our first hide for the Visit Gig Harbor and Visit Tacoma-Pierce County regional glass medallion scavenger hunt only lasted 5 hours. This week, we leveled up the difficulty.

The first “find” was by land, the second? Two if...Wait, was that your first clue?? Maybe.

We are also emphasizing our Active Transportation Plan goals (Gig on the Go: https://www.gigharborwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/6774/Gig-On-the-Go_2025_Final ) to encourage people to explore the harbor via human-powered watercraft.

For those avid paddle boarders, canoe and kayakers, and sailors young and old, it’s important to Go With The Flow when navigating the harbor.

To claim this glass treasure, find the place overlooking where the current meets the shore. Again, be safe while you snag it and be a courteous harbor-goer. Go with the flow!

[Image: Go With The Flow graphic that shows the flow of traffic within the harbor that boaters and paddlers should follow to maintain safe and courteous navigation on the water in Gig Harbor. Yellow lines indicate the area by the mouth of the harbor where no boater or paddler should linger. It is essential to keep this narrow passage open and navigable. Yellow arrows then indicate the flow of traffic up the right side of the harbor and back along the left side to exit, keeping a 25-yard buffer from all harbor docks.]

⚓ Blessing of the Fleet Harbor Notice ⚓

To help support a safe and successful Blessing of the Fleet, temporary buoys will be placed in Gig Harbor at approximately 5 PM on Friday, June 5, to identify the designated Fleet Vessel Anchorage Area.

On Sunday, June 7, the Gig Harbor Police Marine Unit will be on the water to assist boaters and help maintain safe navigation around participating vessels. We ask all boaters, paddlers, and waterway users to be mindful of the marked area and use extra caution while transiting the harbor.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to another great Blessing of the Fleet!
