It’s almost September, so remember, the city invites all community members to the Civic Center!

City priorities, budgets, and long-term planning all benefit from community input. Consider attending a council meeting or study session and adding your voice to the conversation.

Thank you to this amazing community for making the annual Ross Tello Memorial Lego Drive a huge success!

350 Lego sets were donated to Seattle Children's , honoring the life of Ross Tello, a Peninsula High School and Washington State University graduate. Multiple donors also contributed to a total of $2,000 that will be used to purchase even more Legos to support children and teens facing illnesses.

A heartfelt thank you to those who donated to this deeply meaningful cause, bringing joy to children in the hospital when they need it most.

We know the splash pad at Skansie Brothers Park is a summertime favorite for those enjoying the waterfront!⛲

We wanted to share an update on the Welcome Plaza Splash Pad Replumbing and Rewiring Project which involves relocating the electrical and plumbing systems from an underground vault to an above-ground location; improving the long-term reliability of this water feature and preventing future repairs.

To ensure responsible use of taxpayer dollars, city council recently rejected the current round of contractor bids after they came in over budget and did not meet project requirements

This project has been delayed, but the city’s goal is to get it up and running as quick as possible for families to enjoy next summer!🌞

One step closer to Homeport!⛵

On Aug. 10, city council approved the public works contract to construct the Commercial Fishing Homeport at Ancich Waterfront Park. An official construction timeline from the contractor is expected soon, sostay tuned for more details!

This long-term initiative is designed to create and maintain commercial maritime infrastructure in Gig Harbor, because the demand for waterfront access is not limited to recreation or tourism. A thriving community also needs places where maritime businesses, commercial fishers, and working waterfront activities can continue.

Help us keep Doris Heritage Park safe, clean, and beautiful by walking wheeled vehicles while inside park areas! 🚲

Riding on park sidewalks can leave tire marks, damage park features, and create safety concerns for children, seniors, pets, and other visitors when riding at high speeds. These damages not only affect the appearance of the park but also lead to costly maintenance and repairs. New signs have been posted throughout Doris Heritage Park to raise awareness of these park rules.

Utilize the provided bike racks to help preserve our parks and ensure that community spaces remain safe and welcoming! 🌳

Respect shared spaces and if you see something, say something. Please report unsafe behavior to the Gig Harbor Police Department at (253) 851-2236, ext. 2, or dial 911 in the event of an emergency.

The City of Gig Harbor takes the security of its technology systems seriously. While our team deflects and addresses cyber security threats regularly, unfortunately bad actors can still sometimes find a way in.

The city is aware of a phishing attempt that compromised a councilmember’s email account. The City of Gig Harbor Information Technology Services is currently working on the issue. We are actively investigating what occurred and assessing what risks, if any, still exist.

We ask individuals to remain vigilant and not reply to, open attachments from, or click links in, unsolicited or untrusted emails. If you receive a message that seems suspicious, call the person to verify the email in fact came from them. Please be extremely careful when opening any email that includes a password-protected attachment even if you know the sender.

If you opened an email attachment you believe may be suspicious, report this action immediately to your IT department, or to your IT or email administrator.

An important safety reminder for drivers traveling through or near the 38th Avenue project zone: The posted speed limit has been reduced to 20 MPH.

Do not attempt to avoid the closure by driving into the work zone or using routes that have been marked as closed or are on private property.

Gig Harbor Police will be conducting patrols in the area to promote safety as people adjust their daily routes around the work zone.

We know this project will disrupt regular routes through the neighborhood for the foreseeable future, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as drivers continue to proceed with caution, watch for workers and equipment, and allow extra time to get to your destination.
