Citizens of Gilbert, It has come to our attention that something has to be done. This decision has nothing to do with our chief being sick or his job performance. Myself and council are responsible for the well being and the financial status of Gilbert. After a lot of advice and guidance from other mayors in same situation as us, we decided to go this route at this time. We ask for each of you to support this as you cast your vote this week. I have never lead the town in any wrong direction, I feel this is the right decision. Thanks Mayor Mike Stephens

Attention:
The Village of Gilbert Council Meeting will be Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Gilbert Community Center at 157 Hanna Street at 6:30 pm instead of the Gilbert City Hall.
The Village of Gilbert Proposition that is on the ballot for the May 16, 2026 Election is the following:
Shall the Chief of Police of the Village of Gilbert be appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of a majority of members of the Board of Aldermen rather than elected by the qualified voters of the Village.
If any Village of Gilbert citizen has any questions about this Proposition, the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen encourages you to come to the Council Meeting, Thursday night at 6:30 pm at the Gilbert Community Center.
