I woke up today 10,000 miles from home on foreign soil with the focus on remembering those lost on 9/11. And the many Americans on this trip were honored to have so many officials from South Africa and Eswatini stand with us in support and remembrance. Sadly, I also learned the news of the murder of Charlie Kirk, a man who moved youth to be engaged, a man who believed in healthy, peaceful debate, and a man who was a a strong advocate for our precious right to freedom of speech; a man who was silenced for exercising that right. Devastating.

In the last year we’ve had an assassination attempt during the Presidential Campaign, an assassination and an attempt on senators, and now this. On 9/11 foreign terrorists attacked us. Now we attack ourselves. Very sad. Whether you agreed or disagreed with Charlie, it is indisputable that the outcome from is that this evil is in our country, that two children are fatherless, and a wife is now a widow. May he rest in peace.

And so many hateful and unempathetic comments… We are in a bad place these days. Praying we will do better.

Ran into this guy at the Sensory Awareness Family Event (S.A.F.E.) Public Safety Days today at our Public Safety Training Facility. This event gives members of the special needs and autism communities the opportunity to interact with firefighters and police officers in a safe setting, as well as connect with many available community resources. And, all the kids met Batman and checked out his cool Batmobile! Building trust and relationships with the more than 500 people registered for this amazing event.

Was driving to the gym when I saw these young men fundraising for their school with a car wash at American Leadership Academy Gilbert North 7-12, for the boys volleyball team. These kids had so much energy, joy, and laughter… who doesn’t want to support that? Let’s go Gilbert! Come out and support these young men!

Thanks to all who helped remove my campaign signs… Cannot thank you enough!! 🙏 Just spent all day yesterday and all morning today driving the community and removing signs. I think we got them all but if any of you see a sign I somehow missed, please grab it, and if you cannot… please let me know of it so I can get it.

Kenny Buckland, the latest addition to Gilbert’s 2025 Town Council, said it was very important for him to run a civil and respectful campaign.

11/12/2024

After a week of patiently awaiting the ballot tabulations, I am humbled to announce that I have been elected to the Gilbert Town Council. Gilbert, the largest town in America, is a thriving community of more than 288,000 people that still feels like a small town. I look forward to providing servant leadership while working with the Council, Town of Gilbert staff, and the many stakeholders in our community over the next four years. We have some very critical decisions to make to ensure we remain a safe and vibrant community, maintaining the high standards and quality of life we have come to enjoy.

First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me through this process. It was through much prayer and reflection that I decided to enter the race, and I am grateful for the strength and direction I received throughout this journey.

I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my amazing wife and family. Campaigning is challenging and time-consuming, especially for a first-time candidate, and their love and encouragement never wavered.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to my opponent, Aaron Accurso. I committed to a civil and respectful campaign, avoiding any negative tactics, and I am thankful that Aaron shared this commitment. Together, we demonstrated that politics can be conducted with integrity and respect, focusing on policies and principles rather than personal attacks. Through the commitment to stay authentic, civil and respectful, unifying people and respecting our differences rather than creating hate and division, there is still hope that we can change the larger political climate moving forward.

Thank you to the many supporters who contributed their time, effort, endorsements, and resources to this campaign. There are too many to mention individually, but please know that I am deeply humbled by your tremendous support and trust. The runoff election significantly lengthened the journey, and your steadfast support carried me through to the end. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you.

Finally, I want to thank the thousands in our community who exercised their precious right to vote. Whether you voted for me or for my opponent, I respect and appreciate your diligence in making an informed choice. I am committed to serving this entire community to the best of my ability, working with the Council to make the right decisions for the right reasons.

God bless.

County is still tabulating but I’m happy to report 24 hours after the polls closed, I’m leading 53.12% to 46.88% and patiently waiting for more results. In the meantime, my amazing wife and I started collecting our signs that I’m sure everyone is tired of seeing from the roads.

Thanks to all for your patience with so many of our candidate signs for several months.

More to come…

On this last night before Election Day, I’m just going to say, we lost a really good one. Alberto was the tremendous leader for many years at the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, constant supporter of law enforcement, a friend, a brother, a colleague for 8 years while I served on the DUI Abatement Council (he served longer), and a lifelong lover of the freedom we often take advantage of by living in the United States of America. Don’t take advantage of it and please do not take it for granted… Vote for YOUR choices tomorrow, and honor Alberto, a man who understood the value of our freedom, and a man who spent his entire life fighting for it. Prayers for his family in their time of grief.

An outpouring of support has been expressed on social media after the family of Alberto Gutier, a longtime Arizona politician, announced he had passed away peacefully.
