ther Nancy Vance Hatfield. My father Ewell Hatfield was the son of Craig Hatfield, the son of Robert Hatfield born 1867 the son of Devil Anse Hatfield. My Great Grandfather, Robert Hatfield being about 12 years old during the feud was too young to be involved in any of the turmoil during the feud years. My father Marcus Ewell Hatfield was a successfull small business coal owner/operator who lived a very interesting life, who on occasion like Devil Anse, said he was the Devil too. My father inherited most of the flaws of his Great Grandfather Devil Anse Hatfield and some of the good qualities of the Devil Anse Clan. Nancy Hatfield being a 5th generation, we are a non violent Peace loving Hatfields unlike some of my forefathers. I am a former Restaurant Owner of Billie Ann's Restaurant for 31 years. I am now owner of a lodging business, called Devil Anse Trailhouses. I have enjoyed sharing stories of my heritage with customers all over the USA and some other parts of the world. My greatest adventures was helping my daddy bottle moonshine from a bathtub in our home when I was about 8 years old. I am surprised I didnt become an alcoholic from test tasting the moonshine. That stuff shined like glass. Daddy thought this was very humorous me tasting the moonshine. My daddy was my mentor, I was his little side kick. He bootlegged for years. It was our only income in the 1950's, daddy said a man had to do what a man had to do to feed his family. I loved my daddy, he was so much like Devil Anse
My father made the best moonshine in Mingo County until his copper worm was stolen. As years go by, I hope to keep caring on the traditions and recipes to my daughter and son in law. I hope you enjoy Devil Anse's recipe. Still made the same as it was. Please Drink Responsibly
