***🚧SEALCOAT SCAM ALERT 🚧***
Please share with your family and friends.

The Gilberts Police Department has received reports of individuals approaching residents with "leftover" sealcoating material at a discounted price. While it may sound like a great deal, these situations are often scams.

If someone comes to your residence offering driveway sealcoating services, please do not engage and call 911 immediately. Reputable sealcoating companies do not go door-to-door seeking business.

***🚩Common Red Flags 🚩***
-Claims to have leftover material from a nearby job
-Pressure to make a quick decision
-Requests for cash-only payments
-No written estimate or contract
-Contractor tells you, "The price is for today only"
-Unmarked vehicles or lack of business identification

***âś…Protect Yourself and Your Family âś…***
-Always research the company before agreeing to work
-Ask for proof of insurance and proper licensing
-Get multiple quotes from reputable contractors
-Never feel pressured to commit on the spot

If something feels off, trust your instincts. We encourage everyone to stay alert, look out for neighbors, and report suspicious activity right away!

Let's work together to keep our community safe and informed.

Wednesday evening, Officers Gonzalez and Lantz joined officers from police departments across Kane County for the Kane County Chiefs of Police Association Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony in Mooseheart honored those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving their communities and expresses appreciation for law enforcement officers throughout Kane County.

Officer Gonzalez served as candlelighter for the Gilberts Police Department and Officer Lantz served on the organizing committee, working to make sure the ceremony went as smoothly as possible. This year's speaker was Sgt. Marco Gomez of the Aurora Police Department, who was among five officers wounded when they responded to a workplace shooting in 2019.

This ceremony is an important reminder of the dedication, courage, and service of all who wear the badge, as well as those we will never forget.
