Tomorrow one of our own, Ofc. Perez, will be running in the Marine Corps Marathon near Arlington VA. Ofc. Perez trained on his own, paid for the trip and marathon, and raised his owns funds for the Semper K9 charity. This charity raises funds to provide disabled veterans and their families custom trained mental health mobility service dogs. You can actually track his progress through this app. He is runner 13911. We are very proud of Ofc. Perez’s selfless actions in this endeavor. He is representing this department and village with honor. Good luck Xavi!!

🚨 CRIME PREVENTION ALERT: VEHICLE BURGLARIES 🚨
Our number one priority is the safety of our residents. We share your frustration regarding the recent vehicle burglaries in Gilberts and surrounding areas.

Here are the absolute best ways you can assist and protect your property:
• 🔒 LOCK YOUR VEHICLES: Almost 100% of the recent vehicle burglary reports we—and neighboring agencies—have taken involved unlocked vehicles. Taking this small step makes a massive impact.
• 💰 REMOVE VALUABLES: Do not leave electronics, bags, or cash in plain sight.
• 📹 SAVE CAMERA FOOTAGE: If your security cameras capture any unusual activity, please retain the footage. It helps us coordinate with neighboring agencies to build a case.
• 🛑 DO NOT APPROACH: These individuals are criminals and should be considered dangerous. Never confront them yourself.
• 📞 CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY: If you see suspicious behavior or catch something on your cameras in real-time. Let us handle it.

There was medical emergency during a training exercise involving one of our own Rutland-Dundee fireman today. Our thoughts and our prayers are with our close brothers and sisters in red, and the fireman’s family. Please read the release from Rutland-Dundee Fire for further information.

Last night 10/13/2026, Jeff Hill was officially appointed Chief of Police for the Village of Gilberts.

We could not be more proud to have Chief Hill leading our department and serving the community he has dedicated more than 20 years to protecting.

Throughout his career with the Gilberts Police Department, Chief Hill has served in nearly every role within the organization—Police Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Deputy Chief, Acting Chief, Interim Chief, and now, officially, Chief of Police.

That experience has given him a unique understanding of our department, our officers, and most importantly, the community we serve.

Chief Hill believes in high standards, transparency, accountability, and building strong relationships with the community. Above all, he believes our purpose is to serve and protect the Village of Gilberts, and he is committed to doing whatever it takes to accomplish that mission.

He leads with honor, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people he serves.

We are incredibly proud and honored to call Chief Jeff Hill our Chief of Police.

Last Friday Sgt. Hernandez and Ofc. Perez visited the entire 5th grade class at Gilberts Elementary. They were invited by Ms. Papeck who had letters written by her class to our officers. These letters come at a time when the 5th graders learn about, and remember the tragedy of 9/11. Sgt. Hernandez served in the Air Force from September 1998-September 2002. He served overseas during the war as a result of the attacks. Sgt. Hernandez shared his experience and answered TONS of questions! We want to thank Gilberts Elementary and Ms. Papeck for inviting us.

A quick habit can save you a lot of trouble. Lock your doors every time you park. Hide valuables out of sight. Take your keys with you — never leave them inside. Even a few seconds of carelessness can invite theft. If you see anything suspicious, don't hesitate to report it to the police. Stay alert, stay safe! 🛡️

All we can say is WOW. Our first ever Friday Night Out (National Night Out) was a success beyond our wildest imagination. We estimate 200-300 amazing people out with us. We were extremely humbled, and so proud to protect and serve this community. Honestly we don’t have the words to express what this meant to us. Thank you Gilberts and we will see you next year!
