EMFD will be hosting Hazard Control Technologies tonight with a few live burn demonstrations using F-500 encapsulation. We have a meal planned at 5:30 and training will start promptly afterward. If any neighboring agencies want to come out please feel free.

Here’s your first look at the future Tower 41 pulling into its new home at East Marshall!

A big thank-you to our friends at the City of Benton Fire Department for giving us the opportunity to purchase this truck. We appreciate your support and partnership as we continue working to serve our community.

We’re excited for this new addition to our fleet! Stay tuned for more updates as we get Tower 41 ready for service. 🔥

🍂 FALL FIRE RESTRICTIONS START TOMORROW (OCTOBER 1) 🍂
Starting tomorrow, October 1, Kentucky’s Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season officially begins. To protect our community, woodland areas, and homes, state law (KRS 149.400) strictly prohibits outdoor burning during daytime hours.
🛑 THE RULE:
No outdoor burning is allowed between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM if you are within 150 feet of any woodland, brushland, or fields.
🔥 WHEN CAN YOU BURN?
Burning is only permitted between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, or anytime the ground is completely covered in snow.
🌿 WHAT YOU CAN BURN:
Only clean, vegetative debris like brush, leaves, and logs. Burning trash, plastics, tires, or treated lumber is illegal at all times.
⚠️ SAFETY FIRST:
• Never leave a fire unattended—not even for a minute.
• Clear at least a 10-foot perimeter of bare dirt around your burn pile.
• Keep a water source and tools nearby.
• Make sure the fire is completely cold and out before you leave it.
These restrictions remain in effect through December 15.

Throw back to 2022! 🚒💨
Shortly after bringing our "new-to-us" L401 into service, EMFD firefighters were called to put it to work on a unique rescue—a local homeowner stuck high in the air in a disabled bucket truck!
L401’s aerial ladder made quick, safe work of bringing him back down to solid ground. Just another reminder that no two calls are ever the same, and our team is always ready when duty calls. If you are interested in joining our group of volunteers send us a message, or meet us at Station One on Monday nights at 6:00pm.

Today, we were able to speak with the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley to discuss marine safety and emergency preparedness. We shared operational details regarding our Fireboat capabilities, response times for water-based emergencies, and our ongoing mutual aid agreement with South Marshall Fire Department on these types of calls. Inter-agency collaboration remains vital to keeping our waterways safe. As always, your volunteer fire departments are here to serve and only a phone call away.

EMFD is currently on Highway 68 between Moors Camp and Big Bear for power lines down across the road. Please avoid the area. Multiple residents with no power. Power crews have been dispatched.
