Last week during meeting night we were able to get a picture with some of our members by the water we recieved. A shout-out to Fahr Beverage, Anheuser-Busch, and the National Volunteer Fire Council for providing us with a pallet of emergency drinking water to keep us hydrated during and after calls. 🚒

Thanks to our incredible supporters in the community and surrounding communities Gilbertville Fire was recently able to purchase 12 new SCBA’s. Having air packs that are dependable and not on the verge of expiration is crucial in enabling us to combat fires while safeguarding our lives. We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Neal from MacQueen Emergency Solutions.🚒

This evening, Gilbertville Fire & Rescue received a handcrafted fire truck in a custom-built display case. This fire truck was generously donated to our live auction in April. On the night of the auction, the truck was purchased back with the intentions of donating it to our department. Over the past few years, our exceptional community has consistently purchased items at our fundraisers and donated them back to be proudly displayed at our station. Our supporters have not only contributed to the construction of our new station but have also helped adorn the walls with meaningful items. We extend our sincerest gratitude for the outstanding support we receive year after year.

At approximately 8:50 this morning, Gilbertville Fire was dispatched to respond to a flammable fluid spill. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the substance was Sulfuric Acid, prompting Gilbertville Fire to request assistance from Waterloo Fire Hazmat.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Waterloo Fire Hazmat, Waterloo Fire Ambulance, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Black Hawk County Consolidated Communications Center for their assistance on this call. 🚒🚑🚓

A truck spilled sulfuric acid after a strap broke while turning onto an eastbound on-ramp on Monday.
