🇺🇸 Gilford DPW: Proud to Help Make Old Home Day Happen! 🇺🇸

Old Home Day is one of Gilford's favorite traditions, and while the festivities last just one day, our crews spend lots of time preparing behind the scenes to help make it a success.

This year, our Highway and Buildings & Grounds teams have been hard at work: 🚧 Sweeping the Village streets 🌳 Moving picnic tables and trash cans to the Village Field 💧 Watering the parking lot to help control dust 🚫 Installing temporary No Parking signs ⛺ Assisting with setup of event tents 📚 Helping the Gilford Public Library with its annual book sale—including hauling countless boxes of books and assisting with setup 🛠️ Painting of the Village Gazebo 🚜Continuing regular roadway maintenance and paving projects while preparing for the celebration

It truly takes a team effort, and we're proud to play a small part in helping our community enjoy this special tradition.

🚛 Be sure to watch for Gilford DPW in the Old Home Day Parade! We'll have several of our trucks and crew members participating this year. Give us a wave if you see us, and if you snap a photo, share it in the comments below—we'd love to see your favorite parade moments!

We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and memorable Gilford Old Home Day! 💙💚

♻️ Thank You for Helping Keep Gilford Safe!

A big thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day!

Approximately 150 residents from Gilford and surrounding communities took advantage of the event, ensuring that paints, solvents, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, and other household hazardous waste were disposed of safely and responsibly. Proper disposal helps protect our DPW Solid Waste staff, our community, and the environment.

A special thank you to the Lakes Region Planning Commission for coordinating this regional event, and to our Gilford DPW employees who gave up part of their Saturday to make the collection a success.

Missed this event? There are still several Household Hazardous Waste collection days scheduled throughout the Lakes Region. The next events are this weekend in Alton and Moultonborough, and a full schedule is available on the Town of Gilford website under Special Events.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep hazardous waste out of the trash and out of our environment! 💙💚

🏝️ Thank You for Another Successful Island Cleanup Day! ♻️

A big thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Island Cleanup Day!

This annual event gives Gilford's island residents an opportunity to dispose of construction and demolition debris, old appliances, grills, dock materials, mattresses, furniture, yard equipment, and other bulky items as they clean up and maintain their seasonal camps.

A special thank you to Gilford Selectman Chan Eddy, who volunteers his time each year to help make this event a success. We truly appreciate his continued commitment to our community.

We'd also like to recognize our Gilford DPW crew, who gave up part of their Saturday to staff the event, assist residents with unloading, sort materials, and ensure everything was properly collected for disposal and metal recycling. Your dedication and willingness to serve the community—even on the weekend—is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped keep Gilford, Gilford's islands, and Lake Winnipesaukee clean and beautiful.
