Center Harbor, New Hampton, and Meredith residents! The GOP has had control of Concord for all but 4 years in the past century, and yet they manage to blame rising property taxes on the Democrats while they give our tax dollars to large corporations reducing state revenue and gift the wealthy with school vouchers, reducing the amount of our tax dollars sent to towns! THE STATE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS PROPERTY TAXES! It's time for change!

So a veteran and a teacher walk into a bar...

Just kidding.

A veteran and a teacher actually walked into a meeting and walked out convinced they should run for the New Hampshire State House representing Alton and Barnstead.

So they went to Town Hall and filed.

Why?

Because the line for complaining is long, but the line for helping is short.

They’re firmly on the short line.

But there's another reason.

They're tired of watching Free Staters—often running under the Republican label—control the State House while shifting costs onto local communities and local taxpayers.

What does that mean?

When the state stops paying its share for things like school building aid, retirement obligations, and other community needs, those costs don't disappear.

They get shifted to towns.

And then they get shifted to you through higher property taxes.
It's called downshifting, and families, seniors, and homeowners across New Hampshire are paying the price.

Meanwhile, property taxes keep rising, and too many elected officials in Concord continue to support policies that make the problem worse.

That's not okay with us.

We're running because we want to help our neighbors and strengthen our communities.

We're running to bring common-sense solutions to Concord.
To protect our lakes, forests, and open spaces.

To support public education, local businesses, and working families.

To make sure seniors aren't taxed out of their homes.
To listen.
To show up.
To do the work.

It's time to elect representatives who will put Alton and Barnstead first.

Our friends and neighbors throughout the county use this agency for a variety of services, including the food shelf. Each month the Belknap County Democrats does outreach to not only collect food, but also educate about the issue of food insecurity in Belknap County.
Please stop by with a donation or consider volunteering to help at the food drive for an hour or two. We need volunteers!
