The Belknap Mountain Recreation Area's single chair was first used in January 1938 It was the first chairlift east of the Mississippi. Initially, it had no foot rest or safety bar. The view of Lake Winnipesaukee from the top was spectacular. My Grandfather Fritzie Baer was the GM from 1950 - 1959. His state of the art grooming techniques and promotion abilities saved 'The Area' from being sold to developers. It is still owned and operated by the citizens of Belknap County in New Hampshire. It is now called Gunstock Mountain Resort.

We are having a Bush Whacking Day on June 6th starting at 9 AM to clear some of the grown in areas around the jumps before we begin our Capital Fund Drive. Would you please pass this information on to others that you know that are passionate about ski jumping and the prospect of getting the 4 ski jumps at Gunstock back to being used by today’s young jumpers?

Here are some pictures as we are getting our 10 meter ski jump ready for the January 24th high school competition.
