Coal Country Conservatives

Coal Country Conservatives Coal Country Conservatives PAC is a grassroots effort to preserve the traditional American values of Campbell County, Wyoming. Our goal is simple.

We are not funded or affiliated with any political party, candidate or special interest group. Our volunteers and donors come from the community; we are your neighbors, co-workers and fellow church members. We want to promote the election of conservative statesmen and women in Gillette, Campbell County and Wyoming because we know that good governance starts at the local level. We do this by resear

ching the voting records of elected officials, attending forums, conducting candidate surveys, speaking with new candidates and informing ourselves as voters. We then share
our findings by mailing a voter guide to every Republican in Campbell County to unite conservative voters. Our recommended candidates usually come from the Republican Party, but not everyone who runs as a Republican supports conservative values. Our criteria is not arbitrary. We believe those who run as Republicans should follow the Republican Party platform. We are here to help keep you informed, and give you the information necessary to be able to do your own homework on the candidates and issues that affect Wyoming.

Wyoming conservatives had an excellent night at the polls last Tuesday! In the state legislature, the House now has a conservative majority (38 Representatives from 26 in 2022), and the Senate has a bare majority of 16 conservatives. We can expect better legislation out of Cheyenne in the next session.

Campbell County did very well too. The conservative candidates for County Commissioner came out on top, all 3 conservatives for Gillette City Council will advance to the general election and the Wright Town Council will also be a conservative one.

The Campbell County Republican Party gained conservative seats as well. There are now 50 conservatives, a clear majority, as Precinct Committeemen & women. This position has proven its importance in the last two years as they have given commissioners candidates to fill vacated commission seats twice in that short time period.

Congratulations to those who have won their races, and let's keep working towards victory for those who are still running in the general election, November 5.

Not happy with the record-breaking $10.6 billion budget that Governor Gordon and the liberals in Cheyenne passed this session? Listen to Senator Troy McKeown explain how it happened in an interview on Cowboy State Politics - he was there!
His opponent, Phil Christopherson, has a record of spending tax dollars during his two decades of economic development efforts, while Senator McKeown has a record of fighting for tax cuts and property tax relief. We need a fiscally conservative senator in District #24 - vote Troy McKeown on August 20!

Ken Clouston calls himself a conservative, but if you've watched his voting record, you know that's not true. wyovote.com rates Clouston a "liberal", evidencebasedwyoming.com rates Clouston "very liberal", and WyoRINO.com says he's just 10% Republican, leaving us to conclude he's 90% Democrat!

We stand with the Platforms of the Wyoming Republican Party:
PLATFORM 19:
Water and Land Rights
The Wyoming Republican Party believes in the state’s primacy over water, wildlife, minerals, and natural resources, and the lands within Wyoming that were unappropriated to the state on July 10, 1890, and supports any actions which assures Wyoming’s primacy over its water; i.e. the doctrine of prior appropriations, and the land within its borders.

We stand with the Platforms of the Wyoming Republican Party:
PLATFORM 18:
Education
The Wyoming Republican Party supports the teaching of the Constitution of the United State and the Constitution of the State of Wyoming, the Declaration of Independence, and other United States founding documents as well as the factual history and heritage of the United States in Wyoming schools and the historical evidence of the role of faith and biblical principles in the founding of our nation.
FACTS:
Representative Barlow voted NO on HB97 (2022), This bill sought to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Wyoming Public Schools. CRT is ideology rooted in Marxism that teaches that America is systematically racist. This bill supports Wyoming Republican Party Platform #18, as well as Resolution #7, Opposition to the Implementation of Critical Race Theory and 1619 Project, which was passed at the November 2021 WRP Central Committee Meeting. Representative Barlow’s vote on this bill stood in direct contradiction to Wyoming Republican Party Platform #18 as well as Resolution #7.

We stand with the Platforms of the Wyoming Republican Party:
PLATFORM 17:
Taxes
All taxes collected must be used for the constitutional purposes of government. It is irresponsible to run up debts that are passed on to our children and grandchildren. Taxes should never be more than necessary to meet the government’s constitutional obligations.
FACTS:
Senator Driskill voted YES on SF15 (2022). This bill sought to increase fees and permits on overweight and oversize vehicles at a time when gas prices and inflation were skyrocketing. These vehicles are used to haul necessities like building supplies and agricultural products. Increased taxation would have caused an undue burden and was unnecessary to meet Wyoming’s need for revenue. Senator Driskill’s vote was in direct conflict with Wyoming Republican Party Platform #17. (https://wyoleg/Legislation/2022/SF0015)
Representative Barlow AND Senator Driskill voted YES on HB96 (2022). This bill raised state officials’ salaries at a time when inflation was hurting all Wyoming households and the average income in this state was roughly $64,000 annually. The Governor’s salary increased from $105,000 to $140,000 and other state official salaries rose from $92,000 to $125,00 per year. Representative Barlow’s and Senator Driskill’s votes were in contradiction with the Wyoming Republican Party Platform #17 stating that all taxes collected must only be used for constitutional purposes and NEVER be more than necessary. (https://wyoleg.gov/Legislation/2022/HB0096)
Senator Driskill voted NO on SF0136 (2023). This bill would have brought property tax relief by reducing the assessment rate. The state of Wyoming has around $30 billion in its rainy-day fund currently, and is adding property tax revenues to increase this fund further. The Senator’s vote is in contradiction with the Wyoming Republican Party Platform #17 which states that all collected taxes should not be at levels beyond necessary. PLATFORM 16:
Military
It is incumbent on the federal government to maintain a strong military defense for the protection of our people, our interests, and our way of life. Those who serve our country honorably deserve our deepest gratitude, highest respect and unwavering support.

“'[B]y the people' means that there is no ruling class. In representative republics, the people themselves do the governing. Merchants and ranchers, miners and educators volunteer their time and talents to serve in office for a time. When their service is concluded, they return to their work and pass the torch to others."

We stand with the Platforms of the Wyoming Republican Party:
PLATFORM 15:
American Exceptionalism
The United States must maintain and defend its national sovereignty free from foreign and domestic influences that would infringe on the rights of the American People guaranteed by the Constitution. Foreign policy must serve the just interests of the United States.
FACTS:
Representative Clouston voted NO on HB0116 (2023), a bill which would have restricted foreign property ownership in Wyoming. The bill specifically lists governments and agents of Russia, China, and nations listed as state sponsored terrorists. Representative Clouston’s vote is in violation of the Wyoming Republican Party Platform #15 that seeks to defend the national sovereignty of the United States, keeping it free from foreign influence that would infringe on the rights of the American people.
