What if the evidence has been there all along?
When people first hear about America's Peace Flag, the natural question is:
"Where's the evidence?"
That's exactly the right question.
If you've ever felt like history has more layers than what you learned in school… if you've wondered whether there are original sources waiting to be rediscovered… you're asking the kinds of questions that lead to deeper understanding.
One of the earliest references comes from Nathaniel Hawthorne, years before he wrote The Scarlet Letter. While working at a federal customs house, he described the American flag flying above the building—a description many students of this history associate with a vertically striped Peace Flag. His account is only one piece of a much larger historical conversation that includes period illustrations, lithographs, and photographs depicting civilian government buildings with vertically striped flags.
The purpose isn't to accept someone else's conclusions—it's to investigate the historical record for yourself.

Most of us grew up believing there has only ever been one American flag.

But what if history tells a more complete story?

If you've ever felt like there are chapters of American history that were never fully explained… if you've found yourself questioning why certain pieces of our past seem to have disappeared from public conversation… you're not alone.

The more people begin studying original historical records, the more they discover that asking better questions often leads to deeper understanding.

Could America once have recognized both a wartime flag and a peacetime flag?
