At Council of Community Services, we believe pets are family.

Our homeless shelter, Way Station I, is the only shelter in Wyoming that welcomes pets, removing a critical barrier for individuals and families seeking safety. Many people delay or avoid getting help because they don’t want to leave their animals behind.

In 2025, 42 pets stayed alongside their owners, including dogs, cats, birds, and even bearded dragons. By keeping people and their pets together, we make it possible for more individuals to access shelter, stability, and support.

We don’t just provide a place to stay. We also help guests care for their animals through education and resources, so both people and their pets can move forward together. https://www.ccsgillette.org/financials

1 in 6 Wyomingites may be working hungry every day. That could very well be your coworker, neighbor, or family friend. We want to talk about that.

The Council of Community Services is partnering with the Food Bank of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming's Maternal to Adolescent Eating, Nutrition and Development (M2AENAD) lab to bring this event to our community.

Join us on June 26th in Gillette for a discussion to learn more about hunger in Wyoming and what we can do to fight food insecurity in our communities.

If you’re planting a garden this spring, consider growing a little extra.

Through the Grow A Little Extra program, even a small surplus can make a meaningful difference. Fresh produce is one of the most needed items at food pantries, and it’s not always easy to keep it stocked.

At Council of Community Services, we accept donations of homegrown fruits and vegetables throughout the season. Extra tomatoes, zucchini, or herbs can help provide healthy, fresh food to families in our community.

Has opening your kitchen cabinet ever triggered an avalanche of plastic grocery bags?

If so, we can help.

Our Food Pantry is running low on plastic grocery bags for distributing food, and we're also looking for clean egg cartons to help with local egg donations.

Instead of wrestling that growing bag collection every time you reach for a mixing bowl, bring them to us! We'll put them to good use helping local families.

Drop-off location: CCS Food Pantry, 114 S 4-J Rd, Gillette, WY 82716

For many of the individuals we serve, mental health is only one part of a much larger story.

In 2025, an average of 24 out of 30 individuals in our shelter reported living with a mental health condition. At Council of Community Services, we see how often these challenges are connected to housing instability and access to food.

Behind these numbers are real people navigating difficult circumstances, often all at once. Meeting immediate needs like shelter and meals can be an important first step toward stability.

Understanding that connection is an important part of reducing stigma and providing meaningful support.
