‼️‼️Effective Monday June 8th-approx Friday July 3rd, work is expected on the Loon Pond Bridge. Please obey the the signs and barricades.

We’re excited to share that work on the Loon Pond Bridge will begin on Monday, June 8th, 2026. Advance notice signs have already been placed on both sides of the road to help everyone prepare for the upcoming improvements.
Once construction starts, barricades will be moved into the roadway and will be fully closed to traffic. The project is scheduled for completion on July 3rd, 2026.
During this period, the bridge area will be an active construction zone, and for everyone’s safety, trespassing will not be permitted. We understand that projects like this spark curiosity, so we’ll be sharing photos and updates throughout the process to keep the community connected to the progress.
We want to extend a special thank‑you to the residents living closest to the work zone. Your patience, flexibility, and understanding during the noise, activity, and temporary inconvenience are truly appreciated. Your cooperation plays a big part in helping this project move forward smoothly.
Thank you to the entire community for your continued patience and support as we work to strengthen and improve our shared infrastructure. We’re grateful to be making these important upgrades together.

On the evening of May 11, 2026, Officer Bruno was dispatched to a residence in Gilmanton. Upon arrival, she immediately made contact with a female who had sustained a serious injury from a broken window. Officer Bruno observed an approximately five-inch shard of glass embedded in the victim’s right arm. The victim was losing blood rapidly and beginning to lose consciousness.

Unable to immediately access her issued tourniquet while supporting the victim, Officer Bruno quickly improvised a lifesaving tourniquet using a calf-height sock and her patrol pen. When the shard of glass dislodged, the victim began suffering severe arterial bleeding. Officer Bruno then retrieved her department-issued tourniquet and successfully applied it, stopping the bleeding until Gilmanton EMS arrived on scene.

High-ranking fire officials later acknowledged that, without Officer Bruno’s quick thinking, decisive actions, and calm response under pressure, the victim likely would have bled to death. Well Done Officer Bruno!!!

Please be cautious of riders, they have less protection than your car or truck. Look twice, save a life.

As many of our community members are aware, local high school seniors may be participating in the annual “Senior Assassin” game. This is a game where students try to sq**rt their classmates with water guns. While we understand this is intended to be a fun tradition, the Gilmanton Police Department would like to remind everyone to use good judgment and keep safety the top priority.

Please remember:

• Do not trespass onto private property.
• Do not run into roadways or approach moving vehicles.
• Avoid wearing masks or clothing that could cause alarm to the public.
• Never carry anything that could be mistaken for a real firearm. Water guns and toy blasters should remain brightly colored and clearly identifiable. Never point at adults or Police Officers.
• Do not approach homes late at night or engage in behavior that may appear suspicious to residents or responding officers.
• Drivers should remain focused on the road and never participate while operating a motor vehicle.
• Parents are encouraged to speak with their students about making safe and responsible decisions.

We ask all participants to remember that what may seem harmless to friends can appear very different to neighbors, motorists, or law enforcement responding to a call. Our goal is for everyone to have a safe and enjoyable end to the school year without injuries, misunderstandings, or unnecessary police response.

Please play responsibly and use common sense.
